Greenlodge Weekly Update 5/4/2020
#ReachForYourBest
Dear Families,
After seven weeks of social distancing, three phases of remote learning, several new online platforms, countless common planning meetings and 70 Google Meets virtual sessions with students, we are adapting to a new way doing school. However, with all of the work that is coming from the schools, none of this learning could be possible without the support of and communication with our families. Now more than ever, we are reliant on our strong partnerships.
Our primary goal from now to the end of the school year is to continue to build upon our strong relationships in order to provide and support meaningful learning experiences and maintain personal connections with our students. We rely on two-way communication to help us understand what is working well for your students and where additional support is needed.
I appreciate all of the feedback you have provided and have been considering your input when making decisions. At this time, we are still uncertain when we will return to a traditional way of teaching and learning, but until that time we will continue to learn and work to make this a positive experience for your family.
Have a wonderful week!
Ashley

Too much technology? We get it!
Taken alone, each one of these aspects of technology is positive, however when stacked back to back can become overwhelming to families and unhealthy for children. Our intent in making these resources available is to give parents and guardians materials needed. While we set expectations and suggested guidelines, we respect and encourage your parental judgement to make modifications or adjustments to provide alternative, meaningful learning experiences. Give yourself permission to unplug from time to time!
NEW INFORMATION All residents 21 and under can get meals for FREE. Your child does not need to be present to pick up the meals.

Notes from the Nurse...
Hello from the Nurse! I am wishing the Greenlodge community health and wellness during this time. Please let me know at kduckworth@dedham.k12.ma.us if you need any medications your student has stored at the school.
Helmet Safety
As the weather gets (a little) better and kids are able to play outside, it is important they wear helmets when biking, riding a scooter, skateboarding, and rollerblading. It’s a simple step that can prevent head injury. It’s also a law in Massachusetts that children 16 and under wear a helmet when biking. Click here for a CDC fact sheet on getting the proper fit when wearing a helmet.
Tick Season is Here Again
It is great we are able to get outside more these days! Just a reminder that tick season has started. Ticks hide in grassy and wooded areas and can hitch a ride on your clothing, backpacks, and pets. Now is a good time to start doing daily tick checks after spending time outdoors. Click here for some great information from the CDC on avoiding ticks this season. If you do find a tick on someone, click here and follow the steps to remove it quickly. If someone has been bitten by a tick and within a few weeks develops fever, aches, and/or a circular, bullseye rash around the area of the bite, contact your primary care provider.
