Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students & Families,
I would like to begin by thanking our students, staff, and community for their collective care of one another during this difficult time of loss. I would also like to extend our condolences to Mason’s family and friends.
This week at CHS, we are preparing for final exams, which are Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14. Check out the schedule below. Students are busy studying, and Economic students hosted their Summit.
We also celebrated our unprecedented winter sports success this week. We are so #canbyproud of our winter sports athletes’ accomplishments, both in and out of the classroom. Every team made the Academic All State top 10. Boys’ Wrestling earned 2nd All State with a 3.65 grade point average (GPA), Boys’ Basketball earned 5th with a 3.57 GPA, Girls’ Basketball earned 7th with a 3.7 GPA, Girls’ Swimming earned 9th with a 3.69 GPA, and Boys’ Swimming earned 10th 3.53 GPA. Additionally, our band hosted an amazing Winter Concert this week as well.
There is still time to check out Into the Woods and see our actors in action. Our state champion Dance Team is hosting Friends and Family Night next Tuesday evening, and spring sports begin their contests next week.
Finally, this is classified staff appreciation week and school social workers’ week. Our classified staff and school social worker support our students and school in countless ways, and we are so appreciative of their work.
Have a Wonderful Week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Into the Woods
Join us for the Canby High School production of Into the Woods, the musical! Performances are February 29, March 1, 7, 8, 9 at 7pm, and March 2 at 2pm at the Canby High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for K-12 students, and free for CHS students with ASB. In addition, Thursday performances are "middle school nights" -- 7th and 8th graders from BPMS and Ninety-One receive a free ticket when accompanied by a ticketed adult. This play is presented in English, and is recommended for ages 10 and up.
The story of Into the Woods: The inhabitants of a small village express their deepest wishes – including Cinderella who wishes to go to the ball, Jack who wishes his cow would give milk so his mother won’t make him sell her, the Baker and his Wife who wish to have a child, and Little Red who wishes for plenty of baked treats to bring to her Granny. When the local Witch reveals that the Baker and his Wife must break a curse in order to have a child, the characters go into the woods to pursue making their wishes come true. As stories collide, everyone figures out a way to make their wishes come true. But just as everything seems to conclude with a happy ending, a second beanstalk sprouts… and the story continues as the consequences of their actions spiral out of control. They must learn to work together and take responsibility for their actions in order to find their way forward.
