Strength Training

Isotonic Muscle Contractions
Contractions which cause the muscle to change length as it contracts and causes movement of the body part.
- Concentric Contractions - cause the muscle to shorten as it contracts.
- Eccentric Contractions - cause the muscle to lengthen as it contracts.
Isometric Muscle Contractions
Contractions when there is no change in the length of the contracting muscle.
Isokinetic Muscle Contractions
Contractions that cause the muscle to change length and cause movements of a constant speed.
What's Going On During Training
During exercise, muscles burn multiple fuels at once, such as, glucose, fatty acids, and amino acids. Muscles must also contract in response to a rush of electrical signals from the brain.
