Marco Polo

Marco Polo
Marco Polo was a merchant. He sold everything he found on his journeys for money. He lived in Venice Italy seven hundred years ago and when he was a teenager he set off to China. But he did not come back for twenty- four years because the Spanish ruler Kublai Khan liked Marco and he was only sent to nearby places. Marco took notes about the places he saw and with his notes he wrote his own traveling book that inspired Christopher Columbus to set sail to other places.
Exploration has changed a lot in the last seven hundred years since Marco Polo’s time. Back then people used paper maps to find out where they are going. Now people use their phones to find out where they are going. The internet has google maps, where you can explore the world without leaving your couch.
