Colour Pallet
I chose these colours to use for the creature because I wanted it to take on a very reptile feeling. When choosing the colours I thought of what a reptile alien creature would look like and I thought of a walking crocodile like humanoid, so I gave it croc skin and I used appropriate shaders that blended nicely with the original material. For the teeth I used an off-white and a darker desaturated tan. I also added a little red to the teeth for a blood effect to add to its ferocity.
Crocoidile Skin Texture
I used a crocodile skin texture because I wanted the creature to feel very reptilian. I liked the croc skin because the skin looks like its covered in tiny armour pieces which just makes it look really tough.
Bone Texture
I used a bone texture for the teeth and claws on the feet. I chose to use this because I saw this creature as primal and not yet as civilized as humans. I wanted him to have fierce primal attributes and I thought sharp talons and teeth would do that.
Dirt/Grunge Texture
I used a dirt/grunge texture on the creature because I think it would be primal and having that in mind I would imagine it would be running through dirt/muddy areas and would have grunge on them.
Skin Texture
I used a skin texture for the gums of the creature because I felt it would best suit the representation of what gums would look like, I changed the colour of them to better suit the creature and I think it worked well.
Reflection
Throughout the assignment I found it somewhat difficult to move around the program but as I used it, it became easier. One roadblock I hit was trying to figure out how to add a generator, whenever I would add one nothing would show up. I soon figured out that I needed it to be on a fill layer with a mask. After figuring that out I solved my problem and was able to add my generators that I needed for the texture.
