2023-2024 MAXPREPS ALABAMA PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Caleb Holt - 2023-2024 MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year!!!
Caleb is a back-to-back state champion and 2-time state finals MVP. Holt averaged 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.4 assists per game this season.
This last off season he played on the US JR Nationals Team and won a gold medal.
He is the #1 ranked small forward in America and #3 ranked player overall in his class.

FFA PLACES 4TH AT ALABAMA ENVIROTHON
Buckhorn FFA competed in the Alabama Envirothon. The Envirothon event challenges students on their knowledge of Soils, Wildlife, Aquatics, Forestry, and Environmental issues. Students were then tasked with creating a solution to an environmental issue in Alabama. These students gave an AMAZING presentation and placed 4th in the state!!! Congratulations to Bre Britton, Jada Stacey, Olivia Goldsmith, Jesus Lezama-Ramirez, and Logan Luna for representing BHS FFA so well!

BHS Track and Field had another great weekend at the Bob Jones Redcoat Invitational. Our Boys 4x400 team (pictured left to right: Lamont Leamon, Richard Chandler, A.J. Stewart, James Hopkins) placed 1st, Girls 4x400 team (l to r: Gaby Stout, Kailey Lett, Aiyana Mitchell, Shaniyah Green) placed 2nd, Kailey Lett placed 2nd in both the 100m and the 200m, and our Boys 4x800 team (l to r: Noah Wallet, Lamont Leamon, Kam Schacht, Khalil Dock) placed 3rd. Sophie Crisler (not pictured) placed 3rd in the Girls Javelin Throw. Our team, overall, had a great meet and girls placed 4th out of 17 and the boys placed 7th, out of 18 teams competing!! Our JV team, consisting of 7th, 8th, and 9th graders, had an awesome JV meet at the North Alabama Junior High Gold Circuit at Sparkman. They came home with a lot of hardware!!

LC BUCKS WIN LAST REGULAR GAME & HEAD TO STATE
The LC Bucks won their last regular season game at Sparkman, 31-22! Closing out an awesome season the Bucks packed up and headed to Montgomery for the state tournament! They won their first game and are playing in the finals today! Good luck, Bucks!!!!

Students in Mrs. Maynor's Child Development class participated in the Empathy Belly Simulation. The Empathy Belly is a pregnancy simulator that let's the person who wears it experience what it feels like to be pregnant! The result is greater empathy, understanding, and sensitivity for pregnant women.

BASS FISHING
We are ready for some bass fishing this weekend! High School will be fishing AL Bass Nation on Lake Guntersville. The Juniors are practicing on Lake Cherokee (Douglas is off limits currently) and getting geared up for fishing the Junior Bassmaster Open on Douglas Lake. Then they will hit the road again next week for ABNHS Junior Division on Lake Eufaula. Let’s go Bucks!!!
BUCKHORN MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAM
BHS Mountain Bike Team had a great time at time trials two weeks ago and did fairly well with the placement of riders. They are headed to Spanish Fort, Alabama on the Gulf Coast for their first race at the Historic Blakey State Park this weekend. This is the first time they have been this far south to race. It will also be the first time they will race on a sand based course. It should provide for some exciting racing for sure!! Good luck, Bucks!!

T.O.C. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Every year the Athlete of the Year campaign, powered by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center,
TOC Sports and D1 Sports, looks for high school senior student athletes who excel
on the field, in the classroom and in our community.
From August to April, a panel of judges selects one Athlete of the Week. Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement.
At the end of the school year, all weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor.
Two students are selected as Athletes of the Year and will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Online free and reduced meal applications are available online at PayPams. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted and everyone living in the house must be included in the application. Applications are also available at the Madison County Schools central office. You may request a paper application from the school office.

Sign Up to Round Up!
The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! By rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar each month, you help invest in the future of our students!

All students driving on campus must register their vehicle and receive a current school year parking pass before parking on campus. Any student that does not follow the required parking registration procedures to receive a parking sticker will be subject to parking fines, loss of driving privileges, and loss of good standing. All student parking spots are numbered and assigned by areas (senior section behind the cafeteria and between the soccer and baseball stadium). Junior and sophomore parking area is behind the football stadium only. Students must adhere to all Madison County Board parking policies and procedures. Parking registration will begin in July. Exact dates to be determined.
Parking Registration Procedures
Pick up a blue parking registration card from the Main Office.
The following documentation must be provided to acquire a parking sticker.
Return signed and completed parking registration card.
Copy of student driver license.
Copy of the vehicle insurance card (that the student will be driving).
Photocopy of car tag on the vehicle (must match vehicle driving).
Cost of the parking sticker is $40.00 (Madison County Board approved amount).
Students who drive more than one vehicle on campus must have each vehicle registered.
Parking stickers must be placed on the rear windshield of the passenger side, on the bottom corner.
Procedures For Driving And Parking On Campus
Drive safely on campus.
No speeding. Speed limit is 5 mph on campus.
ALL students must enter the school campus using the north entrance (located at the north traffic light -using the road by the softball field).
All students will exit the school campus using the south entrance (located at the south traffic light).
All students must park nose to nose (no backing in parking spots).
Parking Fines
Fines are $10.00, per occurrence, for the following violations:
No parking sticker.
No current school year parking sticker.
Speeding or reckless driving in the parking lot.
Parking backwards.
Parking in the wrong parking spot.
Parking in an employee parking spot.
Parking in any area NOT designated for student parking.
Vehicles are subject to being towed for failure to adhere to proper parking procedures, at the expense of the owner.
