SECONDARY 7-12 ART TEACHER W/WOUT COACHING -needed full-time at Custer Jr/Sr High School, starting 8/15/24. SD Teacher Certification required and must be "Highly Qualified." SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL –needed full-time to assist teachers in grades 5-8 with students with special needs at Hermosa School, for 7.75 hrs/day, $16.60/hr, starting May 1, 2024. Will work according to school calendar. Interested applicants must complete the online application. HEAD CUSTODIAN - Custer Elementary School needed full-time starting June 3, 2024. Hours are 7 am-4 pm but will vary due to school functions/activities and snow removal early in the mornings. Starting $18.25/hr with benefits. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of school building as needed throughout the day to ensure students and staff have a safe, comfortable, clean, and efficient learning environment. Directly responsible for the supervision and training of the building custodial staff. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Will maintain and service custodial equipment to ensure proper working condition. Must have good working knowledge of heating, cooling, and electrical systems in school building. Must fold and unfold cafeteria tables daily. Required to remove snow from sidewalks and parking lots around school facility. Required to mow and trim edges around property. Must be in good health and able to complete assigned duties and tasks and have physical strength sufficient to lift and move up to 75-100 lbs. on a frequent basis. Minimum three years of successful experience in the areas of maintenance, custodial and grounds keeping preferred. SUBSTITUTE CLEANERS - needed at all schools to fill-in for staff when needed. Must complete CSD classified application packet and complete a criminal background check. $16/hr DOE.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS - needed at all schools. Must complete CSD substitute application packet, submit proof of highest level of education, and complete a criminal background check prior to starting. Contact the CSD Admin. Office for a packet, or apply online at CSD.k12.sd.us, which will include the fingerprint/background check materials. Minimum requirement, HS graduate. Pay range $110/day-$135/day. Retired CSD Teachers start at $135/day.

Seniors:
- Your K12 email account will be shut down by the end of June. If you have any college communications going to your K12 account, you should migrate those over to a personal account.

- Pick up a ‘countdown’ number to decorate from Ms. Bowen!
- Complete your survey for the Custer Chronicle by May 10th. Check your email!
- Mrs. Winkler's marketing students are putting together a video for the class of 2024 to play at graduation. All seniors are encouraged to send video clips and images from their senior year to include in this video. Please email videos/images to Mrs. Winkler.
Classroom Happenings
- HOSA is doing a “Kiss a Senior Goodbye” fundraiser. For $2 you can send your favorite senior a bag of Hershey kisses or gummy bears. To buy one, talk to any HOSA member or Mrs. Dooley. They will also be sold at lunches this week.
- Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, all JH girls will be called down to the theatre during WC time so that Abby Studt can speak to you about Gold Discovery Days Royalty.
- Any junior high band students interested in performing the solo in the new piece for the concert must audition during wildcat time tomorrow morning.
- Market Day will be tomorrow, Wed., May 1st! Bring your $$ to enjoy the products/food our students will be selling.
Clubs & Organizations:
- FFA members, please wear your FFA jackets to the year end banquet tonight which will be held in the gym. It will make for better pictures. We’ll see you at 6:30 pm! If you have any questions, contact Mr. Albers.

Did you know we are collecting these items?
The Custer Elementary is collecting Lynn's Dakotamart cash register receipts. We receive cash back after so many receipts are submitted. Please drop them off at any school or the admin. office. Also, please save your pop tabs (also the tabs from cans such as fruit, veggies or soups) for children undergoing medical treatment. A pop tab collection drive is taking place presently for the Ronald McDonald House. You may drop these off items off at the admin. office/Armory or Custer Elementary.

Applications can be submitted electronically within the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (select “more” then “meal benefits”). Applications are reviewed by district officials before granting free or reduced price benefits. Families who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, or participate in other federal assistance programs, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) are automatically eligible. Families earning at or below current Income Eligibility Guidelines, could be eligible for free or reduced-priced meals.
