Spring Newsletter
President's Message
Happy Spring! I am excited for the time change and the sun staying up past 6 pm!
As we reflect upon this last year, Etiwanda teachers have risen once again to the occasion...stepping in to sub for one another, continuing to engage the students in class, and doing their best to take care of themselves!
Your negotiations team worked hard to negotiate on your behalf and hope the retro check was a welcome addition to your April paycheck!
As we head through spring, it's exciting to know that we are seven weeks away from a nice long vacation. I hope all of you have a wonderful summer!

When Should I Request Union Representation?
If your administrator requests a meeting:
1. Ask if it is regarding a discipline matter.
2. If the response is yes, let the administrator know you would like to have union representation in that meeting.
3. Do not put anything in writing without having your site rep or board member review it beforehand.

What Percent of the Year Do I Have to Work to Move a Step on the Salary Schedule?
You must work 75% of your 185 days in your classroom in order to move down a step on the salary schedule. This would be approximately 139 days. This is important information to know if you are ever out on an extended leave (maternity, disability, etc.). Remember when planning for a leave to allow yourself some days for your return in the event of additional illness or personal necessity. If you need assistance in planning, you can contact Michelle Carney (michelle_carney@etiwanda.org) or Jennifer Diaz at the district office.
