Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
It's October ya'll! I love this time of year. Pumpkins, apple cider, crispy leaves on the playground. Fall is such a beautiful time of year!
Conferences are next week! If you haven't signed up yet, please do so. This is a special time to actively participate with your child's teacher and is essential in our partnership and common goal setting for your child. ***Note that if you are having an IN PERSON conference with your child's teachers, masks will be required when inside the building. Thank you for your cooperation with this.***
This week we began visiting Mrs. Hogarth's classroom for social-emotional learning. The curriculum we use at Bushnell is the research-based Second Step program, where students discuss skills for learning, empathy, emotion management and problem solving. These lessons will be weekly throughout the year, with many of the lesson's offering a "Home Link" discussion guide and activity for follow up on at home. Look for your Home Link in your classroom newsletters. If you have questions or are seeking additional support for your child in the realm of community resources, coping with grief & loss, navigating family changes, or anything adversely impacting their learning please contact our Social Worker, Vanessa Hogarth at 987-2650, x2685, or vhogarth@lowellschools.com
Our fundraiser officially closes at the end of next week. There is still time to donate and/or send out those emails!
