JROTC FOOD DRIVE - PHASE TWO ENDS ON 12/14/15
We have finished Phase I of the food drive supporting the local food pantry at the New Market United Methodist Church. The Phase I total was an amazing 4080 food items collected! The church picked up the food on Friday November 20th.
Current classroom totals are as follows: In first place is Ms. Squire’s A Day, 2nd Block Class with 356 food items donated. In second place is Ms. Tran’s B-Day 1st Block Class with 353 food items donated. In third place is Ms. Squire’s B-Day 3rd Block Class with 330 food items donated. Phase II (Christmas) begins today and ends on Monday, December 14th.
Remember, if a 1st block class wins, that class gets a free breakfast from Dr. Chumbley’s Culinary Class – paid for by JROTC. If a 2nd, 3rd or 4th block class wins JROTC will buy pizza and soft drinks for that class. We will declare the winning class on Tuesday, December 15th. The breakfast/pizza can be awarded that day or Wednesday, the 16th of December.
This food drive provides food for local families. Please help. We really need your support!

ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
The 2015-2016 Athlete of the Year campaign, powered by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center, TOC Sports and D1 Sports is underway. They are looking for high school senior student athletes who excel on the field, in the classroom and in our community.
From September to April, a panel of judges selects one Athlete of the Week. Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement.
All weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor in May, and two students are selected as Athletes of the Year. The two Athletes of the Year each receive a $1,000 scholarship.
To nominate the next Athlete of the Year, you can either:
- Fill out the online application
- Print the nomination form and mail it to the address listed on the form.
For more information, call (256) 265-5000.
