Letter from Dr. Wardynski
January 21, 2014
Dear High School Juniors:
This spring you will have the opportunity to earn up to $300 for your performance on the ACT College Readiness examination. You will take this exam on April 23, 2014. Based upon your performance, early next school year, Huntsville City Schools will pay you for your performance on each subject area test and your overall composite score. While you can use this money as you see fit, for many students, this money will come in handy when paying college application fees or high school graduation fees.
In order to qualify for the performance award, juniors must take the ACT at the Huntsville City high school that he/she is enrolled in on April 23, 2014. Juniors who are absent on April 23 will be allowed to make up the test on May 7, 2014. Only ACT benchmark scores earned by students on these official test dates will qualify for the performance awards.
Benchmark scores on the ACT are important indicators of a student’s future performance in college. Students who earn scores at or above benchmark levels have a high likelihood of earning credit in the corresponding first year credit-bearing college courses. These courses include English composition, college algebra, introductory social science courses, and biology. https://www.act.org/education/benchmarks.html
