This Week at SRES
MATH AND THE ARTS NIGHT
Thank you to all that attended Math and the Arts Night. Students enjoyed teaching their parents about the Ozobots codes and creating squishy circuits with light bulbs! There were rockets to build and a spaceship to explore. Many thanks to the Math Committee for putting on such an engaging Family Night. Look for a Literacy Night coming in May!
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
This week we welcomed our last Resident Artist for the year, Adrienne Clancy and the ClancyWorks team. Through movement and dance, ClancyWorks will encourage 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to learn, identify and demonstrate the main idea of the text. The SRES staff started off the school year receiving a day of professional development with Adrienne. This was an amazing experience and we are so excited for our students to receive direct instruction from these talented teaching artists!
Honors Chorus
Congratulations to Salma Ateequi, Riley DeVore and Gavin Legge! The FCPS Elementary Honors Chorus is a well-loved tradition that highlights the musical talents of fifth graders from every elementary school in Frederick County. Students must audition with their music teachers and approximately five percent of each school's fifth grade can participate. SRES selected 3 outstanding singers. These students spend time in and out of school rehearsing challenging music that culminates in a grand performance with over 150 fifth graders at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. This year's concert will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:00 PM and we invite you to attend!

Thank you to all of the families that participated in International Night. We had over 200 people attend this fantastic event. Arts Integration Open House on Friday, April 7
Mrs. Henson's Community Corner & Parent Resource Center
Attention Parents: Please provide a change of clothes for your child in their backpack. This is especially helpful for our younger students and those prone to bathroom accidents. When a student has a change of clothes in his/her backpack it minimizes time away from instruction and ensures that your child is comfortable in his/her own clothing. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the SRES Community Liaison, Keri-Ann Henson at 240-236-1561/ann.henson@fcps.org.
Ready Roos: A Table Talk with the SRES Community Liaison, Keri-Ann Henson, for families whose child will be entering Kindergarten in Fall 2017. Come learn and ask questions about Spring Ridge Elementary School, a typical day in Kindergarten, Maryland State's 'Ready at 5', along with tips and strategies to make the transition to full-day Kindergarten a success. All families will go home with a sticker and calendar kit for their child. Please note, Kindergarten teachers will not be present for this Table Talk.
Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Room 106
Session A 2:30-3:30
Session B 5:30-6:30
