New S1 Students - Enrollment Plan
Here is what the enrollment team at K12 has been asked to do:
-Preference is that we still PUSH for the 2nd semester start date of 1/26. It is in the student's best interest.
· -Messaging will stay the same for students who have been in school and can provide current % in courses.
- If students start on 1/4, 1/11 or 1/18 and they are currently attending 1st semester at another school, but want to finish out 1st semester with MVCA, we can match those courses if they can provide grades in the form of percentages. This is not recommended. It is in their best interest to finish out 1st semester at their current school.
· -If student is currently attending and if finals are not over until after 1/26, they should stay at their local school through finals week and then start with MVCA after they fully complete their 1st semester.
· -If student is not currently attending: For students beginning 1/4/16 or 1/11/16, please assign 2 CR courses plus ORN010 and Finding Your Path.
-Students starting on 1/19 will receive ORN010 only.
-If student is not currently attending: For students beginning 1/18/16, please assign OLL and FYP.

Kmail to Notes in TVS
Please think twice before using the tool - do all teachers and staff members need to have access to this information? If yes, please consider having an ongoing note instead of individual notes.
If not, please don't click the box.
Thank you!
A Note From Special Education and our Child Find Coordinator
Dear Staff,
As a school, it is our responsibility to identify struggling students, students we suspect may have a disability, and those that disclose they have a disability. Many times, those disclosures and requests come to us via kmail, as this is the means in which our parents most frequently contact teachers. While that method of communication is wonderful for parent to teacher communications, it is not the most efficient or appropriate means of communication between staff. There are very strict timelines required for both responding to and complete an evaluation for special education. The school has 10 calendar days to respond to a request for special education testing, and 30 school days from the receipt of a signed REED document to complete testing and hold a MET meeting. To help us manage this process quickly and provide supports to students in a timely manner, we have a Child Find Coordinator. This is Maureen Turner (mturner@k12.com). She moved into this position last school year and is your go to contact for testing requests.
Going forward, please refrain from forwarding any communications to administrators or other staff members within kmail.
Please follow the SOP below for all referrals AND for general communications stemming from a kmail:
· Copy the kmail message or save the kmail as a PDF
· Paste the message or attach the message to an email to the appropriate staff
If a request for Special Education testing specifically, please:
Complete the initial testing referral survey so that Maureen has all referrals in one place.
· Please SAVE this link so it is readily available to you, as it is rather long.
o If a request for a 504 Plan, please submit a FAST referral
o If a medical condition is disclosed, please email Maureen and the appropriate academic administrator to determine what steps should be taken to support the student.
Once again - ALL internal communications should happen via email, rather than kmail. Thank you for your help in this, and ensuring that our students’ needs are met in a swift and efficient manner!
