Why the FOCUS on Testing?
The focus is on learning and showing what students know! Our message is clear!
Our goal is to build a positive, fun energy around testing. We don’t want it to be something students dread. Rather, a culture filled with student ownership in learning, a growth mindset and grit, and celebration.
Both the ISAT and IRI (iSTATION) are measures of student progress. We use many measures to monitor our students’ learning at Discovery. The ISAT and IRI are summative state wide assessments.
We will analyze our students’ progress to inform and guide instructional needs at Discovery! I guarantee we will use the data to make us better!
STRATEGIES and GOALS
We provide strategies and help students set goals to use those strategies. Student ownership in learning is essential to their academic progress. It is a partnership! Every student at Discovery will conference individually with his/her teacher about their learning and goals!
Support our Efforts
Support our efforts by ensuring regular attendance during testing days. Avoid pulling students for appointments.
WE NEED STUDENTS TO ARRIVE ON TIME TO SCHOOL! It disrupts the flow for all students when your child is late. Please make this a priority!
Encourage your student with positive notes, talk about the strategies and goals, and celebrate the process!
Prepare your students with an early bedtime, a healthy breakfast, and boost of confidence!
Returning Devices & Charges
Second, Third, and Fourth Graders will return their cases also. They will be kept and returned to students next year.
Fifth Grade Students will keep their cases for middle school.
