Happy Holidays! Happy New Year!
From Chihuahua Rescue and Rehab
The season of love and happiness is here and Chihuahua Rescue and Rehab would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Wonderful Holiday. For us, the holidays are filled with happiness because of awesome adopters like you.
We saved 58 dogs this year. We are proud to state that none of them were returned back to us. We couldn't have done this without you. Thank you for adopting one of our dogs.We love seeing our dogs thriving in your homes. You can send updates on Facebook by clicking "Like" on our Chihuahua Rescue and Rehab page https://www.facebook.com/ChihuahuarescueandrehabCA/?fref=ts , then posting, or email us at chihuahuarescuer@gmail.com.
In addition, if you are on Facebook, we would love for you to go to our page and write a review about your adoption experience with us, and how much you love your four legged loved one. This will help us get more dogs just like yours adopted. Note: This can only be done on your desktop computer, not on your cell phone or tablet.
Holiday Safety Tips
The holiday season is upon us, and many pet parents plan to include their furry companions in the festivities. As you gear up for the holidays, please keep our safety tips in mind.
Try to keep your pet's eating and exercise habits as close to their normal routine as possible. Also, please be sure to steer pets clear of unhealthy treats, toxic plants and dangerous decorations.
AVOID: Holly and Mistletoe (can cause gastrointestinal upset if ingested); Tinsel (digestive complications if swallowed); Unattended lighted candles; Xylitol (sweetner); Fatty foods; Spicy foods; Bones; Alcoholic beverages; Human medications (ensure they are safely out of reach).
Keep wires, batteries and glass or plastic ornaments out of paws' reach.
Securely anchor your Christmas tree so it doesn't tip and fall. This will also prevent the tree water from spilling. Stagnant tree water is a breeding ground for bacteria, giving your pet gastrointestinal upset if swallowed.
Keep a secure lid on the garbage can, and keep pets away from the table and unattended food.
Looking to stuff your pet's stockings? Stick with chew toys that are basically indestructible (avoid rawhide), Kongs that can be stuffed with healthy foods or chew treats that are designed to be safely digestible.
Give your pet his own quiet space to retreat to—complete with fresh water and a place to snuggle.
As you count down to the new year, keep in mind that noisy poppers can terrify pets and cause possible damage to sensitive ears. Remember many pets are scared of fireworks, so be sure to secure them in a safe, escape-proof area as midnight approaches.
We hope these tips help make the holidays safe for you and your pets.
Donations Needed
We took in five hospice dogs this year, Malone, Thelma & Louise, Sophie, and Tye. In doing so, we say a prayer for the ones we lost, Malone, and Thelma & Louise. It is challenging to rescue a hospice dog, but we feel it is our mission to ensure their last days are filled with comfort and love.
We currently have 28 dogs and 3 puppies in our program. We are expanding and donations are greatly needed for medical costs, which include but aren’t limited to blood panels, dentals, spay/neuter, vaccines and special surgeries. We have two blind dogs and several special needs dogs that we are socializing. We know this is a difficult time of year to donate but we hope you will find it in your hearts to help us out.
Thank you for your continued support of Chihuahua Rescue and Rehab
Sincerely,
Chihuahua Rescue and Rehab
