Dragon of the Month
Congratulations, Ruby!
This student is very patient and kind every day, always willing to lend a helping hand. They are always listening closely to directions and following along. They try their absolute hardest on every assignment, test, and worksheet- asking for help if they don't understand or offering to help a friend that needs a little assistance. They are constantly using their manners; being sure to say please and thank you no matter what. They are a huge helper to me during the day and show all of the great qualities a Dragon of the Month should have. So... February's Dragon of the Month is Ruby Halcrow

With a new semester comes new classes for me and my students. The financial literacy students are currently creating and maintaining a budget. They’re in the process of researching prices for expected expenses. We tried something new with the Goosechase app just this week. They were put into groups and tasked with completing “missions” by submitting pictures based on different parts of budgeting.
Introduction to Cybersecurity has just finished making three different videos to help everyone stay safe online. These should be posted to social media soon, so keep your eye out for them.
Computer Science students have teamed up to design and create apps from scratch. So far, they have come up with how they will look. Next up – programming the bits and pieces to actually work!
Eighth grade Computer Science class is coming to a close this quarter. They have been trying their hands at designing websites. They’ve moved from basic HTML into basic CSS, or from the bare bones into something with style.
I’m down to one student in my Clothing & Textiles II class, and we are putting her skills and knowledge to the test by making projects. She’s already made one dress from a pattern, and has another one picked out. Next quarter she gets to design something herself and put it together using our brand new sewing machine.
The upper elementary students have been learning with Minecraft. They’ve been able to make book covers to go along with presentations, create pollinator gardens, work on a coordinate plane, and visualize symmetry…all in Minecraft. They’ve also been through simulations with digital citizenship. Even the second grade class got to experience coding in Minecraft when they made it rain chickens.
I’d consider quarter 3 a success, now onto quarter four. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Spring Break!
