The Falcon Flyer
May 2024
Dear Foothills Families,
Happy May to everyone!! It is hard to believe that there are four weeks left of this amazing school year.
We have some fun end of year activities happening this month so make sure you look at the Calendar of Events below. Also, please remember that for the next couple of weeks we will be finishing our end of the year testing. Please make sure your kids arrive on time since the teachers are testing in the morning. So far everyone has done a great job. Thanks!
It is that time of year to remind students to return or pay for lost library books. We appreciate your help and support with getting all our library books and Take Home Library books returned. It is also that time of year to come visit our Lost and Found. We have many jackets and other items that would love to go home with their owner! Finally, a reminder to pay all lunch fees by May 21st. You can go into your Parent Portal of I-Campus and go to Food Service in the Menu to pay your lunch fees from home, or you can pay with cash, check or card in the office as well.
If you haven't registered yet for next school year, please do so right away (www.nebo.edu/registration). We are hoping to have all of our students registered for the 24/25 school year by the end of May. This is especially important for those students who will be attending Kindergarten so we can have an accurate prediction of class placement needs. Please let your friends and neighbors know as well. If you have registered for Kindergarten we would like to invite our new kindergarten students to participate in a "Get to Know You Activity at the end of May." Watch for an email soon with more information.
If you know for certain that your student will not be returning to Foothills in the fall please let the office know as soon as possible (801-423-9172). Thank you for your support with this so we can get an idea of what our numbers will look like for next school year.
As you register your children for school next year you may start thinking about teacher assignments. Regarding teacher requests for next year, we will still be following the same policy that has been in place the past several years. As always, teacher input will be one of the greatest factors in placing students. In addition to teacher input I would love to have information from parents regarding their child’s individual strengths, learning styles, behavior issues, etc. (These letters/emails should not contain a specific, desired teacher's name). In addition, if you have had a specific negative experience with a certain teacher in the past with one of your own children I would like to know this as well. Please know that class placement is a difficult task that I take very seriously. If you choose not to inform me through letter or email about your child before June 15, there will be no changes to class placement once your child has been placed with a teacher. It is so much easier to get it right early on than make last minute changes. The letters can be in the form of email to me (angela.stoddard@nebo.edu) or written letter delivered to the office. We will be accepting these anytime from now until June 15. We feel that with the quality of teachers we have at Foothills every child can have a great experience with any of the teachers here. If there are any questions regarding student placement don’t hesitate to call or email me.
If you purchased a school yearbook they will be handed out to students on Monday, May 20th. (Kindergarteners will receive their yearbooks on May 16th.) We have a few extra copies that will be sold on a first come, first serve basis until we run out on Monday, May 20th at 8:00am. The price for the yearbooks if you haven't purchased one will be $18 (cash or check).
Thank you, everyone, for making this an AMAZING school year. We have such hard working, helpful, happy students. I would like to thank the wonderful PTO group and parent volunteers that we have had this year. I love working with the great students, parents, teachers, and staff who are associated with Foothills Elementary. Have a wonderful, safe summer and don’t forget to read and practice math facts!
