PLTW Showcase
We will be hosting visitors on Thursday afternoon from 12:30-2:30 p.m. They are coming to visit with me and Angie (Maybe Kelli) to discuss how we have implemented PLTW in our building, watch Angie teach a PLTW lesson with her students and then discuss/ask questions afterward. THE CONFERENCE ROOM IS OFF LIMITS THIS ENTIRE AFTERNOON! Please plan accordingly.
Also - it has been brought to our attention that the middle school kids who are waiting on their bus at the NS stop are not always making the right choices. If you see the students on playground equipment or cussing, yelling, fighting, etc...... Please say something to them! As EN employee, we will protect, correct, and guide all EN students. Thanks for your help with this!
"The Potential Of A Child Is The Most Intriguing Thing In All Creation!" -Ray Lyman Wilbur-
Are your students focused and engaged during your lessons? How do you know?
This piece from the two sisters stuck with me as I am able to visit your classrooms and observe everything going on. I can quickly scan the room to see which students are and are not engaged in your lessons. Unfortunately, you do not have that opportunity to step back and watch your students to see if they are involved and learning from your teaching.
Well, there is a way for you to do this! I highly recommend you to take this challenge, you should video tape your teaching! Video tape one of your lessons and then watch it to reflect on how well it went. Were the majority of students or all students engaged in your lesson and participating? If not, why do you think that is? How can you tweak, adjust and make changes to your instruction and lessons for all or most students to stay engaged?
Teaching is about reflection and growth! When there is no more room for growth, our career in teaching is done!
Students must be engaged in their learning and your instruction in order to achieve and show growth in their learning........
The two sisters have shared a brief focus lesson template as a guide to keep you on track to teach mini-effective lessons between rotations of guided practice or independent work. Attached is an example lesson and then the blank template will be attached to the e-mail this link will be in.
Challenge yourself! Make sure your students are learning!
