Highland Ranch Elementary School
A Message From Ms. Barry
Highland Ranch Career Fair
The Career Fair will take place in the MPR on Monday, May 20th- 8:00 - 10:00 AM. We are looking for parents/volunteers/companies to share information about their profession with our students. Tables will be set up around the perimeter of the MPR and organized by career clusters (Arts, Media, Entertainment; Health Science, Medical Tech, Information/Communication; Engineering and Architecture - Just to name a few). 3rd-5th grade students will walk around the MPR and ask questions about your career and career path. Visual aides are very helpful tools. The biggest goal is to allow students to talk to adults from a variety of different career choices. Students will be carrying a career passport and a pencil to note what they have learned about your career.

Older Information
Navigating Autism While Supporting Your Child
There is a NEW Parent Education Course next month on Navigating Autism while supporting your child. The flyer for the upcoming course is attached. Please feel free to share the attached flyer and courses with the parents and students that you work with. Parents can also visit our website at https://www.powayusd.com/apps/pages/parenting-classes-education and search for the course they are interested in and enroll directly from our site. The Spring courses should be updated on the website by the end of next week.
Attendance Matters
Our school's primary objective is to enhance our daily attendance rates. Following the Winter Break, our school administrators will engage in discussions with families facing chronic absenteeism. We kindly emphasize the importance of scheduling vacations within the 180 days when school is not in session.
Research indicates a significant influence on students' academic and social well-being when they consistently miss school. In 2024, we will introduce incentives for students and classes that consistently exhibit good attendance.
Need Additional Illustrative Math Resources
We invite you to explore the provided link above for access to Illustrative Math resources that can enhance your students' learning experience during the Thanksgiving or Winter break. This resource-packed site is designed to complement Illustrative Math, offering valuable support for your students' mathematical journey. Your students will find a wealth of materials to reinforce their math skills and enrich their understanding. Happy learning!
Food and Nutrition Updates
School breakfast and school lunch are FREE for all enrolled students, every school day. Meals must still be entered into the cafeteria computer by individual student account.
Even though meals are free, families are still highly encouraged to complete the application for free and reduced-price meal eligibility. School site funding depends in part on the number of students eligible for free/reduced-price meals. Families that qualify for free/reduced-price meals may qualify for other benefits, as well. The meal application is available online at MySchoolApps.com.
Printer-friendly PDF menus are available on the PUSD Food and Nutrition webpage. At the top of the page, click or hover over School Menus + and then Printable PDF Menus.
Interactive, web-based menus containing nutrient and allergen details are available at MySchoolMenus.com, as well as via links from the F&N webpage.
