Transfer- Using something that is respected (like the Statue of Liberty) to win approval
Targeted Audience- Anyone in America who would like to help with the war effort, but cannot fight
Terms of citizenship defined- Every citizen could participate. Liberity was highly respected.
Glittering Generality- "Knit your bit" is a simple catchphrase the Red Cross used to try to make women want to knit more for the soldiers
Targeted Audience- Women
Terms of citizenship defined- Women are meant to help with the war from back home, not on the battlefield.
Name Calling- Hanging a bad name (Mad Brute) on the enemy
Targeted Audience- Young men
Terms of citizenship defined- Women and liberty are thought to be very important and should be protected.
Plain Folk- Using plain citizens in propaganda makes it so that both sides are benefitting and the citizen's interests are at heart.
Targeted Audience- Anyone who can buy bonds
Terms of citizenship defined- Men are the heros of the family.
Modern Day Propaganda
Glittering Generality- "BE ALL YOU CAN BE" is a simple slogan from the Army to try to get people to sign up for it.
Audience- Anyone who is of age to join the Army
Terms of citizenship defined- Women are now allowed in the military. Everyone is pretty much equal.
