Teachers' Day Ceremony on 24 November
Atatürk’s response to the question "If you were not the President, what would you like to be?" was "The Minister of Education, to directly serve the cause of education". This was a strong indicator of the importance he placed on education as a vital component of social function.
The celebration of teaching at TAC started with a skit where TAC students were teachers and teachers acted as students. Then, the challenging role of teachers, who are also parents, was recognized and awarded with the surprise prepared by the organizing committee for TAC’s parent-teachers. “Being a teacher and a parent is not to see your student any different than your own child. It is leaving one's own child in the early hours of the morning and parenting other people’s children. Or leaving your child who has fever at home and rushing to the class and watching the classroom door and window so that your students do not get sick. It is missing the first steps of your child while witnessing that your student hear and learn something from you for the first time. It is seeing your child's eyes in the eyes of your students, and hearing his voice in their voice.”
Being a teacher also means embracing all students, in mountains, villages or the city. The verses of the poem "All the Flowers of the World" by Ceyhun Atıf Kansu, which encapsulates these feelings, was recited by TAC teachers. The ceremony continued with the students of our sister school Kanberhöyük Village Primary School, who came to the stage accompanied by their student teachers at TAC. In their message, they thanked their teachers. With this energy brought by the children to the stage, the ceremony ended with ECHO’s performance of a song, with TAC teachers singing the vocals.
