Our School Namesake: Flossie Floyd Green
Flossie married the neighbor boy, John Green, who was born in the farmhouse that once stood on the current Green Elementary site. The depression offered great obstacles to Flossie, who was widowed in 1932.
Flossie loved children and taught all she came in contact with the value of an education. She set an example of high moral standards, strong faith and a fierce determination. More than once prior to her death in 1976, she stated that she would like to see a school built on one of her farms. Flossie Floyd Green Elementary which opened its doors on August 5th, 1995, was the fulfillment of Mrs. Green's dream. Her descendants, Georgie and John Green, donated the land and had the school named after her as a memorial. She would be pleased.

She advocates for all children in her roles on school leadership teams, coordinating the Watch Dogs and Peer Assistance Leadership Students, and by working closely with the PTA to support all Green families. SECTION III. Foundational Components
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Allen ISD School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate program that addresses the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students. AISD counselors are advocates who, in partnership with other stakeholders, provide support to maximize academic achievement and student potential.
Program Definition:
The Allen ISD School Counseling Program serves ALL students through a systematic, sequential, clearly defined, and accountable program. School counselors meet the needs of students based on data, alignment with district goals, and a unified belief in the mission and vision of the Allen Independent School District. The program is delivered by master’s degreed school counselors in collaboration with faculty, staff, families, and the community. It is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs which integrates Academic, Social Emotional, and Career Development so that students will be able to demonstrate competencies in interpersonal and intrapersonal effectiveness, post-secondary planning and career readiness, and personal health and safety.
Program Rationale:
A comprehensive school counseling program helps to balance the fundamental processes of teaching and learning in education. It is systematic, developmental, and preventative in its approach. Current research suggests more than two thirds of our national population have been or will be negatively affected by trauma, and a comprehensive school counseling program can help to mitigate those negative effects. As a result, schools with a comprehensive school counseling program report having students with higher grades, lower dropout rates, and a greater perception of school belongingness.
Program Assumptions:
For the Allen ISD School Counseling Program to be effective, the following assumptions are made:
- The nature and substance of school counseling programs will be comprehensive, preventative, developmental, and continuous in the three areas of academic, career, and personal/social.
- All students, grades PK – 12, will have access to school counseling services.
- All students will participate in the school guidance/counseling program and will have their differences and special needs considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program.
- All students, PK-12, will have access to a full-time, state-certified, master’s degree-level school counselor to deliver the counseling program.
- The program will be based on specified goals and competencies.
- The school counselor will work with the assistance of other schools, parents, guardians and community representatives to plan program services.
- The school counselor will participate in professional development activities and abide by the professional school counseling ethics.
- Counseling services provided to students and schools will be data driven with appropriate accountability components, evaluated and shared with stakeholders.

The Leader in Me Staff Lighthouse Action Team prepares staff to look at change and how to prepare and set goals for our new normal.
This is the fifth year of implementation of the Leader in Me process of continually evaluating and setting goals for the school through. In January of 2021, the Staff Lighthouse Team led the Green Staff in learning to look at the Zones of Change . The new Action teams formed into leadership groups to set new goals for the new year. At Green Elementary, all staff members are valued and are called to be a part of the changes and growth in the school.
Evidence that the staff moved from the Zone of Adoption to Zone of Innovation!
A collective graph of our staff was utilized as a visual to show where the staff was on the Change Model. The Green Elementary staff moved to Zone of Innovation.
Evidence of the staff moving to new learning was shown through the Culture Team planning a book study on Hacking School Discipline and later sharing with the staff how to create a culture of communication. The team also created tips to hang in the school on calm down strategies for students and staff.
The Academic Team focused on small group instruction practices and set goals for student led conferences for the fall of 2021.
The Leadership Team created a Google share for staff to share best SEL ideas and is working on vertical alignment.
