Nativism
"Nativism" is the political position of demanding a favored status for certain established inhabitants of a nation as compared to claims of newcomers or immigrants. The high surge in nativism is quickly leading to strong immigration restriction legislature. Starting with the Emergency Quota Act or Emergency Immigration Act, this act limited the amount of immigrants coming into the United States. Also the Immigration Act limits the annual number of immigrants who could be admitted from any country to only 2% of the people living in the United States. Along with the Immigration Act , also comes the National Origins Act which also penalized the Japanese as well as other Asians.

Scopes Monkey Trial
Thomas Scopes is a high school teacher accused of wrongly teaching evolution. The teaching of the subject is, of course, against the law. His attorney, Clarence Darrow, is at his side in defense of Scopes. However, his prosecuting attorney, William Jennings Bryan, is very hard to defeat. Scopes argued that the teaching of evolution is not inconsistent with the teachings of the bible. This statement was negatively received from the jury. Ultimately the jury decided that Scopes was guilty, and fined him $100. Bryan won the case.
