March 18, 2024
Dear Families,
We wrap up the month of March at school this week with the conclusion of our All School Read. See pictures below for our Round 2 Trivia and Vocabulary winners! Our last round of trivia is due this Friday and will be drawn during our Buddy Classroom Reading Celebration. As you wrap up the All School Read with your child, I’ve attached tips for building children’s vocabulary. Vocabulary is a large part of reading comprehension and the larger and more expansive a child’s vocabulary, the more helpful it is in understanding what is read. There are lots of easy ways to practice this in your everyday routines and conversations, as noted on the visual below!
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders begin WI Forward Testing this week, starting with Math on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will resume after Spring Break with ELA and then 4th graders additionally take Science and Social Studies.
Lastly, a friendly reminder that school is out of session for Spring Break next week (3/25-3/29) and students will resume classes on Monday, April 1st.

Pleasant View Carnival - 4/12
The PTO carnival will be held on April 12th from 6-8 in the Pleasant View gym. The Carnival was a huge success last year and we are excited to hold it again. Your generous donations are what make the Pleasant View Carnival a Success! We will start taking donations for Jiffy Jars and Raffle Baskets. What is a Jiffy Jar? It is a small NON-glass container (plastic jar, zip lock bag, etc.) filled with items such as candy, stickers, small toys or school supplies. Please start sending in jiffy jars to your child’s classroom. We will be collecting them until Friday March 22nd.
Carnival Raffle Baskets- Also back is the famous Carnival Raffle baskets. To make this a success each grade is assigned a basket theme below. (However, any donation is welcome!) Themes are:
o K4/K5- Summer Fun/ Activities
o 1st- Baking/ Cooking
o 2nd- Movie/ Game night
o 3rd- Spa / Coffee & Tea
o 4th- Pet Lovers/ Outdoor Grilling
o 5th- Sports / Fitness
Other ways to contribute:
· If you own a business and would like to donate an item or service, we’d love to include your donation and business card!
· Gift Certificates are always popular raffle items. If you know of a business that is willing to donate, please let us know.
Please send any raffle basket contributions to your child’s classroom as soon as possible. The carnival committee will be collecting them from each classroom.
All Donations should be sent to school no later than March 22nd.
