From the desks of our Secondary Tech Ambassadors
Jon Clausen, 5th Grade Math Teacher
Prep Block 5
Strengths as Technology Ambassador:
· Data management, reporting, and instruction - I can help you compile data using STAR, Performance Tracker, DRC Insight, Excel, and more so that you can use it and report it to students and parents in a meaningful, but manageable way. *I believe this is an area where I can be of most use this year as one of your Tech. Ambassadors.
· Math digital content and tools assistance – Compass Learning, ST Math, First In Math, Study Island, Ed Puzzle, Actively Learn, Schoology, IXL, Front Row, Braingenie, and LearnZillion – I’m experienced with each of these and more, and I can help you use these tools to respond to your data effectively.
· Classroom/Beginning-of-Year Preparation – Feel free to contact me if you’re looking for ways to make the “behind-the-scenes” parts of teaching a little easier using technology. This is my 19th year of teaching, and I’ve found ways to make our lives easier as we prepare.
Jon Charles, HS Technology Educaton Teacher
Prep Block 1
I am happy to have this opportunity to help teachers develop ways to use technology as teaching tools in their classrooms. As we embark on this one-to-one program, it will be important to give our students experiences where their laptops are used as learning tools not just expensive typewriters. My hope is that our staff can share ideas and work together to create a twenty-first-century learning experience for all the students at Manheim Central.

Google Apps: Instead of using many different programs, begin using all of the amazing tools that Google has to offer! Remember, most things you've created in separate programs will convert seamlessly into Google. (Example: You've done a great Powerpoint? Convert it easily into a Google Slide!)
Google Classroom: Looking for another or different way to share, create, collect and grade things with your students? Consider Google Classroom, a totally free and super easy way to do all that and more! I can show you what I've done and seen if it's right for you.
Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms: I'm assuming you're already using all of these tools but if you ever need help, I'd be happy to work with you!
Flubaroo (an app): Looking for a way to reduce your grading? Create your quizzes in Google Forms and then let Flubaroo grade it for you! Send your students their grades and an optional answer key with just a few clicks!
Symbaloo: Looking for a more visually interesting way to organize your students' links? If you aren't using Symbaloo, you should be!
Kahoot: Have you heard all about it but still haven't made your first one? Now's the time!
Quizlet: Did you check out Quizlet Live at the end of last school year? Kids love it and they'll collaborate like never before.
Printers: and projectors: Let me get frustrated for you! I'll push buttons until something happens or we have to submit a tech request because we broke it. Let me take the blame for you.
Elaine Spencer, HS Media Specialist
Available as long as she is not scheduled to teach
As a Technology Ambassador for 2016-2017, I am available to:
· Troubleshoot hardware problems with classroom technology and student devices.
· Provide assistance with student accounts, passwords and printer problems.
· Assist with iPads and app solutions for accessing information and for multimedia production.
· Assist with school-wide apps such as Turnitin, Google Apps, Office 365, OverDrive, Schoology, Shmoop, and Noodle Tools.
· Continue to find and curate digital information for a variety of student needs.
· Find any way possible to get a book--paper, pixel or audio--to hook every reader (colleagues too).
One goal I have for this year is to teach students how to use the tools we have to organize their digital lives. Because students will “own” a computer, we can recommend and teach tools to add to browsers or various utilities to save and access information.
