Start-of-Year Reminders
- At the beginning of the school day, ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE BEING DROPPED OFF WILL ENTER THROUGH THE MAIN ENTRANCE. This is a change from last year -- no longer will kids in grades 3-8 enter through the commons vestibule, as those doors will be locked. Please do not drop your student off before 7:30 am. All students who ride the bus will enter through the doors closest to the bus ramp. All exterior doors lock at 8:00 am, and students will need to enter through the front office after that time.
- The school day starts at 8:05 am. Students arriving after 8:05 must be signed in at the front office. Students are considered tardy between 8:05-9:30; after 9:30, students will be marked as being absent for that school day.
- If your child is going to be absent, please call the Message Line: (715) 356-5206, and press option 1. Students will be marked Unexcused if we do not receive a message from a parent or guardian on the Message Line. Students are allowed 10 parent-discretion absences during the school year; additional absences can only be excused with a doctor's note, or with a pre-approved absence form.
- When parents and guests come to visit the school, they are required to sign in in the front office and receive a visitor's badge. The first time guests sign in, we use a driver's license to enter them into our computer system; after that, parents and guests can use the office's computer kiosk to sign themselves in and print a visitor's badge. We appreciate everyone's help in ensuring that, for the safety and security of our students, everyone in our building who is not a student or staff member is wearing a visitor's badge.
- Lunch money can be handed in at the front office. If you are paying with cash, please put the money in an envelope with your student's name and label it 'Lunch Money.' Parents can also apply for free & reduced lunch through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
All cell phones and electronic devices are prohibited during the school day and must be left at home or in a student’s locker. Students may use office or classroom phones in an emergency. Telephone use for personal reasons will be denied. If parents need to get a message to their child during the school day, please leave a message on the Message Line (715) 356-5206, and press option 1 by 2:30 pm. Messages are distributed to students at 10:45 and 2:30 each day. Messages received after 2:30 pm will be reviewed the following day.
- Dismissal times are at 3:03 (PreK-2nd grade), 3:08 (3rd-5th grade), and 3:13 (6th-8th grade)
- All students who take the bus after school will exit through the doors closest to the bus ramp; those who are picked up will exit through the front office doors.
- Front office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
For additional policies and procedures, please view our 2018-2019 Student Handbook.
Reminders for 4K Parents
4K orientation day is Tuesday, September 4. Students with last names starting with A-M should come at 8:15 and prepare for a 9:00 am tour of the school. Last names starting with N-Z are scheduled at 1:15, with a 2:00 tour. Orientation Day allows 4K students to meet their teacher, confirm schedules and information, and spend some time in their classroom before their first day of school.
Wednesday and Thursday, September 5-6, are full days of school for 4K. The bell rings at 8:05, and dismissal is at 3:00. Parents are welcome to walk their child down to their classroom on these first two days, and starting the second week 4K students will be encouraged to find a buddy or walk independently to class. A reminder that there is no 4K held on Fridays.
Notes from the Nurse
Hello! A few reminders for the start of the school year:
1. PLEASE make sure your student is up to date on all their immunizations. The state of Wisconsin mandates that students have all their required immunization prior to starting the school year (see table of requirements below). If you are unsure if your student is up to date, please go the Wisconsin Immunization Registry at www.dhs.wisconsin.gov click on the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) and go to the public immunization record access. If you are choosing to not have your student receive some of their immunizations, please see me at registration day on August 28 and I can give you a waiver that must be filled out for the school year.
2. If your child is going to be participating in a sport they must have a current sports physical. Sports physicals are good for two years. If you are unsure whether your student needs a physical, please see me at registration or email me at pholtz@mhlt.org .
3. If your child will be taking any medications at school, please make sure you have an updated physicians order. This includes oral medication, inhalers, and Epi Pens. You can see me at registration day if you would like to drop off any medication and orders.
Any other questions or concerns please either see me at registration day on August 28! You can also email me at pholtz@mhlt.org or call my office, (715) 356-5206 x2204.

Alternate Transportation Location Form
Lakeland Bus Company has changed their policy regarding Alternate Transportation Forms. The deadline for alternate forms has passed, but families can still turn them in! Forms received will take effect starting September 17. This is applicable to any student who needs to ride a bus to a location other than their home address (daycare, church, etc.)
Alternate location forms do NOT carry over from school year to school year. You must turn in a new form for your student(s) each year. Forms are located in the office or online. You are welcome to email the form to agilbert@mhlt.org. Thank you!
