ON THE RIGHT TRACK!
Technology design cycle report: The Investigate section
Introduction
I am Kasidit (Alpha) Thangjittachob, and I will use this flyer to submit my report on the unit.
Investigation - Identifying the Problem
In an experiment to see how much we know about the criteria, I created a paper chart where we write down the titles of the subjects I am taking, and to list as many criteria as possible - It turns out that I know only a few of them.
I did get to enter all the criteria for 2 subjects, the rest, I either only know a few, or none at all.
On the left side of this & the previous section are 2 pictures taken of my on-paper e-portfolio designs.
Design Brief
Design Specifications
- Be a 'stand alone' presentation (In which it does not need a human speaker for it)
- Be balanced in length
- Be for MYP students to use
- Outline assessment criteria, how each assessment criteria is graded and how and overall grade is calculated
- Use a good balance of images and text
- When information and/or images are used from other sources, they must be referenced.
The spreadsheet created must:
- Include every subject
- Include all assessment criteria
- Capable of multiple work units
- Calculate averages when appropriate
- Feature overall grades
- Use different cell-colours for subjects
- Include headings
Testing Methods
- Was the stand-alone appropriate to the Target Audience (MYP Students)?
- Was there a careful balance between text & images?
- Were all the classes covered in the stand-alone?
- Was there a clear introduction?
- Was the Color scheme, font & layout choice stylish & effective?
For the Spreadsheet:
- Was the Spreadsheet complete with spaces for all subjects, all criteria?
- Was Coloring used effectively on the spreadsheet?
- Did the Spreadsheet use the formulas for average? for sum? for sorting data? and for sell-merge & bordering & shading?
- Did the spreadsheet have a good title?
- Was the layout good?
For Comments:
- Name 3 things you like about the stand-alone
- Name 3 key facts from the stand-alone
- Name 3 things you like about the spreadsheet.
- Name 3 things that should be changed so the spreadsheet could be better.
- Name 3 things that should be changed so the stand-alone could be better.
I will conduct this test between the 24th & the 26th of September, 2013
My testers will be Lareach, Sophie, Aaron, Erica, Dina.

Spreadsheets
A 'Spreadsheet program' is a computer program that allows us to create a chart and restore, analyze and change data on the computer.
They are basically the electronic equivalent to the old paper chart.
The first ever spreadsheet computer program, named VisiCalc, was developed by two friends, Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston in 1981, - it turned the computer from a hobby to an important business tool.
Today, Spreadsheet programs are widely used in educational and business purposes and by bankers, students and businessmen/women.
I discovered that Spreadsheets can help my organization, and that it's a good way to display information about my assessment criteria.

Stand-Alone Presentations
Stand-Alone Presentations are a sort of presentation that does not need a human speaker to explain it, or anything else beside itself; it alone can communicate the presentation to the viewer(s).
Stand-Alone presentations can range from posters, flyers and banners to electronic versions, such as Microsoft Powerpoint / Prezi presentations and videos.

The IB's Middle Years Program
The MYP was designed for IB Students aged 11 to 16, and is created to encourage students to be creative and reflective learners, developing communication & connection skills, and prepares students for the Diploma Program.
In this program, we are to learn the following subjects:
- Humanities
- Sciences
- Arts (Music & Visual Art)
- Mathematics
- Physical Education (PE)
- Technology
- At least 2 Languages
(International Baccalaureate, n.d.)
I will now check and analyze the assessment criteria for all the subjects.
