Portrait of a Graduate ; Beginning with the End in Mind
Happy April everyone! I hope you all had a blessed Holy Week and have come into April with a renewed sense of Faith and family!
Over the past four years, BCSS has embarked on a strategic planning journey. Part of that journey was to create foundational documents to guide the work that we do. Last month, I shared one of Bosco Catholic School System’s foundational documents, our mission statement.
This month, I would like to share with you a more specific document born from the mission statement. It is called “Portrait of a Graduate." You will see that this document really hones in on more specific criteria that we use to define the type of student that we, with your support, aim to graduate as a student of Don Bosco High School.
We take our role as educators of the whole child very seriously at Bosco Catholic School System. All of the work that we do circles back to ensuring that the steps we take--starting in preschool--are purposeful towards graduating students who exhibit the traits identified in the Portrait of a Graduate.
We are honored to partner with you on this journey!
Blessings,
Mrs. Douglas

From Our 5th Graders
Last month, our K-8 students participated in Read Across Iowa. Mrs. Douglas set a goal for the students, and if they reached it, she said that she would spend the day on the roof. The goal she set was to read 70,000 minutes. After week three, K-8 reached over 100,000 minutes! Mrs. Douglas is scheduled to spend the day on the roof sometime after Easter. She might have a surprise for the students who come out and visit her!

Thanks to all who came out for the blood drive on Tuesday, April 2. We had another successful drive collecting 66 units of life saving blood. A special thanks to our 8 first time donors.
