This Week's Golden Lions!
There were 26 Golden Lions awarded to students this week (through Thursday). Here are the descriptions for each of those Golden Lions. Our students demonstrate GREAT character at Lakeview!
• Christine played a math game with her classmates, even though it was not quite right for her. As a result of her kindness, her classmates had fun playing a new game and got to practice their math skills. Thanks for being so kind, Christine!
• Ema was willing to play a math game with her classmates, even though it was not quite right for her. Because of her kindness and patience, her classmates were able to practice math skills and have fun, too. Thanks so much, Ema, for being willing to work with anyone in our class!
• Last week during one of our writing activities, Rainna wasn't quite sure what to do. Rather than waiting, she asked an adult for help and was able to successfully finish her writing task. Being willing to ask for help isn't always easy, but it's an important, life-long skill! Keep it up, Rainna!
• Deondre worked very hard today during the entire reading class! Also, when something was tricky he didn't get frustrated and give up. Instead, he kept trying and fixed things up! Keep up the great work, Deondre!
• During Writers' Workshop today, Deondre complimented two students in his class. He showed kindness and respect toward his classmates. Way to go, Deondre!
• During read aloud, Hannah was so engaged in the story. She sat quietly and listened and I could tell that she was amazed by the story. She showed such engagement as she looked at the pictures and listened when I added background knowledge to help kids understand better. I loved Hannah's look of surprise, excitement, shock, and disbelief in learning about a real person and what they endured.
• Dora recognizes all the snap words on the pink cards! Keep up the great work!
• Eliana recognizes all the snap words on the pink cards! Keep up the great work!
• Henry recognizes all the snap words on the pink cards! Keep up the great work!
• Brooke recognizes all the snap words on the pink cards! Keep up the great work!
• Vivvy recognizes all the snap words on the pink cards! Keep up the great work!
• [Name] showed maturity when he listened to the signs his body was telling him and asked for a break. He used his strategies and was able to get back to class and work hard! Way to go!
• Jazmine did a great job in the library. I'm especially proud that Jazmine has been checking out books that are just right for her! Keep up the good work Jazmin! - Mr. Franecki
• Johnny has been doing such a great job in library this year. He is a fantastic role model for his classmates and I can always count on him to be kind and empathetic during group work. Keep it up Johnny! - Mr. Franecki
• Olive has been raising her hand to share like crazy this week. I also witnessed her kindly helping a friend tidy up her desk. Keep up the great work, Olive!
• Manuel has been working incredibly hard to draft a feature article about parrots. He knows that when he thinks he's done, he's just begun! Keep working hard, kiddo!
• Logan has been very focused on composing a feature article on Arctic animals. He has worked on organizing his information into sections about specific animals and willingly accepts feedback. Keep it up, Logan!
• Molly has been really engaged in her independent reading, using all of her reading minutes wisely.
• Valerie stayed really focused on her writing and made sure to get her details done for her chapter.
• Brooklynn knows almost all the letters and sounds and she can blend letter sounds to read new words. Congratulations, Brooklynn! Keep working hard in reading and writing!
• Aiden knows almost every letter and its sound! Also, he is learning to blend letter sounds to read new words. Congratulations, Aiden! Keep working hard in reading and writing!
• Eliana can rote count to 215 and has exceeded our end of the year counting goal of 120.
• Charlotte has been really engaged in her writing, filling chapters for her Space Book. She also demonstrated kindness and respect with another student, noticing when another student needed a little reassurance and offered some encouragement.
• Maliah counted to 100 for the first time using the classroom 100 chart! I am so proud of Maliah.
• David knows almost all of the alphabet letters and their sounds! Now he is working on learning more snap words. Keep up the great work, David!
• During an unexpected fire alarm, Quinn helped one of his classmates that does not like the volume of the alarm. As Quinn and the other student walked out of the building, he helped cover the student's ears to help make it not quite so loud. This was such a kind act. Quinn thank you for having such a big heart and knowing how to try to help.
