Forward Testing in March - 8th Grade Only
We will begin our Wisconsin Forward testing next week. We are scheduled to test on the mornings of March 20 and 21 (8th grade only) and April 16, 17, and 18 (both grades).
To set students up for success, please remind them to get a good night's sleep and eat breakfast. They will also need the following:
Wired earbuds (bluetooth headphones are not allowed during testing)
Fully charged iPad
Also, a reminder to students, no cellphones or smartwatches are allowed in the room during testing.
The Forward Exam is designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards. These standards outline what students should know and be able to do to be on track for college and career readiness. This exam is used by the state of Wisconsin as a measure of how well schools are performing academically. Therefore, it is critical that our students give their very best effort, and that as many students as possible participate in the exam.
Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation to make the Forward exam a success at Bay View! We very much appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Heath Garland
Principal

Donate Life Walk - April 13th
A Small Dot ... Makes a BIG Difference!
The Student Leadership Donate Life Committee at Bay View appreciates the fact that the HSSD community has supported the NEW Donate Life Walk for 11 years running! We have raised THOUSANDS of dollars for Donate Life Wisconsin thanks to you. This year, we are reaching out once again and asking you to join us at the 12th annual NEW Donate Life Walk on Saturday, April 13th at Bay View Middle School.
The need for organ transplantation or organ donation is always unexpected and we all believe it will never be us. However, all you have to do is look around the HSSD community to note that MANY members have a connection. Come join us on April 13th to raise awareness and money to help others going through this process. If you can’t join us for the Walk and Silent Auction, here are some other ways you might be able to help:
Distribute the poster you see to the left to businesses around the HSSD area and beyond. (Contact us at newdonatelife@gmail.com and we’ll figure out how to get them to you!)
Solicit donation items for the Silent Auction from your family and friends who own businesses. Click here for access to our Interest Donation Letter.
Donate money on our website. We will be providing T-shirts to every registrant, as well as food and drink at the finish line. All of these items will call for financial support.
Spring Incoming Freshmen Athletic Meeting - April 24th
We will be hosting a meeting for all incoming freshmen athletes on April 24th from 6-7pm in the high school Performing Arts Center. This meeting will be for parents and athletes who plan on playing sports at Bay Port next year. Thank you, -- Dillon Maney Athletics Director 920-662-7268

DigiKnow: Promoting Digital Wellness at Home
Creating a safe and balanced digital environment is critical to our children's well-being in today's ever-connected world. Two important aspects of this are:
- Screen time, the amount of time spent on devices
- Content filtering, which controls the materials accessible to them
This resource aims to provide insights and options that parents can explore at home, allowing them to tailor their child's digital journey with confidence. For more information visit HSSD Technology or Common Sense Media. Please contact Kelly Koller, Technology Integration Specialist, for questions at kellkoll@hssdschools.org

STUDENT PICK-UP PROTOCOL
If you are picking a student up during the school day, you must come into the main office and sign the student out with your Driver's License. If someone other than you or your emergency contacts is picking up your student, please contact the office to let them know who is picking your student up. Students are not allowed to leave during school hours via bike or walking without prior approval from the main office and Principal.
HEALTH ROOM PROTOCOL
If your student is not feeling well, they need to follow protocol and come to the health room to report their illness prior to contacting home. Students should not be using their iPad to email a parent or texting a parent to pick them up. This will eliminate the spread of illnesses to other students and will make the office aware of students being picked up prior to parent arrival.
