- GMS got a new decal above our cafeteria. We are so blessed by our Gunter Middle School PTO who purchased this for us!

Updates and shout-outs from the high school PTO...
- A HUGE thank you to Addalynn’s Boutique for her generous donation to the GHS PTO. In case you missed it, a portion of all state champ merchandise sold at Addalynn’s this year was donated to our GHS PTO and we are so very thankful!
- Another big thank you is in order to all of you who purchased one of our PTO state championship ornaments this year, as we were able to use those funds to donate $500 towards the cost of rings for our football crew! Woohoo!
- Recently we learned about a pretty substantial amount of unpaid lunch account balances at the high school and we were able to use PTO funds to cover those costs as well, so those are totally paid off now too!
- Pictured below is a snapshot of some of the gifts that we were able to provide to all of our football coaching staff as a congratulations on their 2023 victory! We love spoiling our teachers and staff and are so very appreciative of everyone’s continued support that allows us to do so.
- REMINDER: please have your high school seniors check Mr. Waggoner’s site to view current scholarship opportunities. The GHS PTO gives out multiple scholarships each year and would love to see your kids earn them!

National School Counseling - Week of February 5th
School counselors are at the center of the problem-solving process for many students. As trained mental health professionals, school counselors help students organize their thoughts while building safe, positive, and trusting relationships with their students.
National School Counseling Week was celebrated February 5-9. Thank you to everyone who showed their gratitude to these awesome people during that week.

Children’s author, Marci Peschke joined us for an author’s visit.
Mrs. Peschke shared with students how she became an author and how she finds ideas for her books. Our students really enjoyed listening to her read excerpts from her books. What a treat for our students to gain the author’s perspective first hand and to have the opportunity to ask higher level questions about her journey as an author. Thank you to our school librarians, Mrs. Genthner and Mrs. Johnson and Gunter GIFT Foundation for making this experience possible!
Gunter Ladies for Tomorrow - Map Donation
Mrs. Locke’s 4th grade class was excited to be gifted a new map to learn more about Texas history. Thank you to the Gunter Ladies for Tomorrow for supporting education and helping to keep students excited about learning.
Medieval Times
The 3rd graders had an epic time on their field trip to Medieval Times! They were entertained by the Royal Court and the knights who demonstrated the Code of Chivalry, brought history to life, and took our students back in time to the Middle Ages. The bus drivers and teachers enjoyed the festivities too!
Valentine Fun and Learning at GES
- The 3rd grade teachers made sure the students could see how much they were loved by wearing heart shaped glasses. Students decorated boxes and exchanged Valentines and friendship. Everyone had a great time!
- Students in Mrs. Rippamonti's class were given a Valentine challenge! From the word "Valentine," students had to write a complete sentence for each letter or connect one line to the next to make a complete sentence. The challenge was to incorporate phrases from candy hearts.
- GES Administrators, Mrs. Keller and Mrs. Brackeen, showered the faculty with some Valentine goodies. Calories were removed, love was injected.
-
Valentine's Day and science? Yes, they mix! To help with visualizing solids, liquid, and gases, students in Mrs. Smith's class made Valentine Floats with vanilla ice cream and Cherry 7up.
After watching the reaction of the elements, they completed a lab sheet over solid, liquid, and gases.
3rd Grade Service Project
The 3rd graders are the host of our February service project. They are collecting new blankets to benefit the residents of Settlers Ridge Care Facility in Celina.Thank you to everyone who has donated a blanket for this worthy project. We will deliver the blankets soon, keep an eye on our social media for updates to the project.
Meet Chloe! Mrs. Fieszel's students are loving the new addition to their classroom. She is a Holland Lop rabbit and will provide many life lessons to this group of students. As you can see, they are learning how to care for and be gentle with a pet. They are brushing up on their reading skills while reading her a story, and they will learn to share and take turns.
Moon Phase Oreo Cookies
The different shapes of the Moon that we see at different times of the month are called the Moon’s phases and Mrs. Smith's 4th graders brought them to life all in one day using Oreo cookies! All this time we thought the moon was made of cheese, and really, it's made of the creme filling of the Oreo :)

Valentine's Day
- The Annual 5th grade Valentine's Day Ice Cream celebration was a huge success. Everyone had a great time visiting with each other and sharing a yummy snack!
- Decorating and eating cookies courtesy of Chance Nichols on Valentine's Day in Mrs. Loewen's class. The cookies looked fabulous and tasted delicious!
- Mrs. Clement's students worked on problem solving skills by doing a digital Valentine's Day Breakout Room. Our Tigers are pretty smart cats and were able to escape.
-
Valentine's Day was extra special at Tribute Senior Living because of the awesome efforts of our leadership team at GMS. They collected chocolates and stuffed animals to deliver to each resident. Students hand delivered the gifts with a smile, which we all know was the real gift to these folks. Our students are learning that giving a gift is much better than receiving one. Their hearts are full, smiles are wide, and we, as a district, can't be more proud of the happiness they are giving away.
In the classroom...
- Gunter MS students launched their rockets as part of their STEM class with Mr. Eaton.
- Artists in Mrs. Ferguson's class researched architectural styles and then developed three designs on paper from which they chose 1 to actually bring to life!
My very excellent mother just served us nachos! What are we talking about? The order of the planets, of course! The sentence is an acronym to help the students remember the order of the planets.
After taking their test, the very best teacher (Mrs. Bon) served her class some nachos Thank you to Minnie Smith for providing the nachos.

They began last month with their advertising campaign, and finished the project today with delivery. Thank you to everyone who supported this project by placing an order.
Valentine's Day... Is it love or is it just lucrative?
This thought provoking question was presented by Coach Winchell to her English II students, who then read about the history of Valentine's Day and completed several writing activities on the topic. We love to see our students challenged to think for themselves at GHS
