IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION
Dear Viking Parents and Families,
This is an exciting time of year for many of our students who will be attending the prom next Saturday, April 27 at Martins West ballroom. We recognize how magical and memorable this evening can be for our students. With events such as prom, the conversation about safety is instrumental with our students. It is important to us that we uphold this outstanding school community that cares for and keeps our children safe.
We met with all juniors and seniors this week to review prom expectations and safety. Our school resource officer, Officer Mason, shared with our students the importance of making good decisions before, during, and after the event. He also reiterated that engaging in substance abuse will hinder the ability to make good decisions. We reminded all students that Howard County Public School policies are in place at prom, and the Student Code of Conduct will be followed should any student violate these policies.
We hope you will join us in conversation with your child about making good decisions and not engaging in behaviors that impact their safety. Our goal is that your student arrives and leaves the prom safely and will talk about how wonderful this evening was for years to come.
Our PTSA-sponsored After Prom is an event that is talked about year after year by so many. We encourage your junior or senior student to purchase a ticket to experience the excitement and fun that comes from the variety of activities and prizes at the YMCA, regardless if they are attending the prom. This is a fun filled, substance free, safe environment for your child.
As we prepare for this memorable event next Saturday, we have included information below about prom and the After Prom event:
Prom Location: Martins West Ballroom
6817 Dogwood Rd, Baltimore, MD 21244
Time: 7- 11pm (Students must arrive by 8pm with physical ticket and photo ID)

Thank you for partnering with us to keep this memorable event safe for your child.
Warmly,
Katie Clark, Principal

Viking Community – I hope you had the opportunity to join us at HebronFest last evening. What a beautiful event that celebrates the culture and diversity of our school! I want to acknowledge the two staff members who were the backbone of this event – Ms. Zoya Riaz and Ms. Jen Green. They put in countless hours and truly have an investment in showcasing the beauty of our student body. I also want to highlight our amazing students. We had an outpour of students perform, and share their interests, cultures and diversity with our community. It was fabulous! If you missed it this year, we have highlights on our MHHS Instagram (@hcpss_mhhs) – take a look! We encourage you to join in the experience next year!

2024-2025 School Year Bus Transportation Registration Opens Monday, April 8: Parents/guardians whose children are eligible for bus transportation are asked to register to receive bus service each year to help the school system plan for student transportation needs. The transportation registration process will open at 9 a.m. Monday, April 8 through May 31, and will be completed online via HCPSS Connect Synergy. Registration must be done for each eligible child.
To be eligible for bus service, your child’s home address must be outside of a school’s walk zones. You can verify address eligibility in the HCPSS School Attendance Area Locator. After inputting your address, a window will appear that will indicate either bus or walk for each school level. Please note, the attendance area locator also includes a link for the bus stop locator, which is set for the current school year. Bus stop information for the 2024-2025 school year will be available in August.
You do not need to take any action if:
- Your child is not eligible for bus transportation
- Your child receives transportation as part of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan, or
- Your child is a graduating senior
Details on bus transportation registration, including a guide to register and scenarios families may see when registering, can be found online.
