AMS OPEN HOUSE
This year, team teachers will gather together to present a 25 minute presentation. We ask parents attend the team presentation by student last name (see document for times). If you have more than one child at AMS, feel free to attend any session that best meets your schedule.
EAST Teachers will congregate in the Cafeteria in a College Fair style expo available for drop in from 6-8pm.
Special Education teacher will be in their rooms and also available for drop in from 6-8pm.
Open House is NOT parent-teacher conferences. This event is to meet and greet with your child's teachers and get a sense of their classroom practices, procedures and curriculum.
Please click this link to access the Open House document.

LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
CHROMEBOOK DISTRIBUTION
Dear Families,
We are in a holding pattern around distribution of 5th and 6th Chromebooks. We are still trying to recover some of the Chromebooks distributed during COVID hybrid. Can you please make sure your child has returned their Chromebook. You may have it at home and we really need to get all Chromebooks back to redistribute to other students. Tomorrow I will distribute Chromebooks on carts for the short term to support teachers using technology in the classroom.
For those 7th and 8th graders who have submitted paper forms or filled out the online form, you will receive the Chromebooks over this week.
If you haven't done so already, please make sure to sign the agreement asap.
If you want to print out the agreement: click here.
If you want to sign electronically: click here.
NO PERSONAL COMPUTERS OR DEVICES IN SCHOOL
We cannot permit personal devices for use in the classroom.
1. We cannot service your student's device if it breaks or is not working.
2. We cannot guarantee stable Internet service to non-school devices.
3. We also have security safeguards, filtering capabilities and the ability to push out applications and extensions only on our school devices.
As a result, we cannot allow any outside student devices in the classroom. Chromebooks are provided free of charge and are now a required school supply for use in the classroom. If your child requires specialized technology due to a disability related need, please contact your child's Assistant Principal.
USE OF PERSONAL PHONES IN SCHOOL
Thank you for your support.
PARENT ADVISORY GROUP (PAG) UPDATES
AMS Parent Advisory Group (PAG) is the parent group for Amesbury Middle School.
We are similar to the elementary school PTO:
*We provide money for field trips and in school assemblies.
*We sponsor fun events for students and families such as movie nights, a student performance showcase (Stars on Stage) and a staff “talent” night (AMS Idol).
*We inform families about upcoming school activities.
If you would like to be added to our email distribution list, please complete the form that is included in this week’s Eagle Eye (Poly) or, better yet, send your email address to: cecreps3@gmail.com
Carey Creps, PAG President
978.457.23432021-22 AMS School Council
PAG would like to congratulate and thank Alicia Linsey for volunteering to serve as the 5th grade representative to the AMS School Council for the next 4 school years. Alicia will bring a great deal of experience to the table. The following introduction will give you an idea of all that she has to offer:
Originally from New York, I moved to Massachusetts to attend graduate school and met my husband, Keith who is from Pennsylvania. We have lived in Amesbury for seventeen years. Our three children, Chase, Brooks, and Alexa are all middle school students in eighth, seventh, and fifth grades, respectively. As a family, we spend a lot of time on the soccer and lacrosse fields, basketball courts, and the Cape Cod beaches. I hold a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and have worked as a school counselor and administrator in public schools for more than twenty years. I hold a deep commitment to and understanding of teaching and learning. As a mom, and in my professional capacity, it is my mission to support the social and emotional wellness of all of our children. Serving the Amesbury Middle School community as a representative for our children's class is a pleasure and privilege for me. Thank you for giving me this opportunity!
PAG would also like to thank Liz Ruccio for volunteering to be the 7th grade representative to the AMS School Council for the next 2 school years. We had an unexpected opening for this role and are grateful that Liz stepped up to fill it. Here is a bit about Liz and why she is the perfect fit for this position:
Hello. My name is Liz Ruccio and I consider it a privilege to be part of the AMS school council. I am a proud mom to three amazing children, two of whom are AMS graduates, with the youngest currently in 7th grade. I started volunteering in the Amesbury Public Schools 12 years ago, participating in classroom activities as well as AES school council, numerous clubs, and most recently in an internship program between AHS Business Marketing students and the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce. I believe in effective communication, parental collaboration, and a top-down culture of inclusivity in the support of our community’s outstanding teachers, administrators, and staff. This last year and a half has presented all of us with unimaginable challenges—but also the opportunity to re-examine how we educate our kids. I am committed to the equitable growth of our students and the educational system that nurtures them. I am honored to serve as a voice for the parents of our 7th graders. Thank you.
