Plympton Family Update
October 6, 2023
From the Interim Principal
Hello Plympton Families,
On Thursday night we were thrilled to welcome students and families to our Back To School Night! We loved seeing our students share their classrooms and student work with their families. We are looking for feedback to make the next Back to School Night even better. Please complete the survey linked here and embedded below.
We had our first Community Meeting this week! We talked about the 7 Habits (see image below) and how to be a great leader at Plympton. We reviewed our behavioral expectations, celebrated some student successes, and even did a little dancing!
The week we also practiced our Bus Evacuation Drills with Officer Dani and Officer Frassica.
We reviewed expectations for bus behavior with all students and practiced how to exit the bus in case of an emergency. It is imperative that students follow all rules related to the school buses so that everyone can travel safely to and from school. It is also important to note that the time riding the school bus is an extension of the school day, and dangerous or inappropriate behavior on the bus may result in disciplinary consequences.
Last Wednesday all staff received the yearly ALICE training. ALICE Drills are practiced throughout the year to prepare students and staff for emergency situations. Our School Resource Officer (SRO), Officer Dani, has been meeting will all classes to educate students on safety and to prepare them for ALICE Drills. We will have an ALICE drill once all students have received the lesson from Officer Dani.
It is important to practice these drills so that students and staff are prepared in the event of a real emergency. For some students, these drills can be stressful and cause anxiety. We are committed to supporting the social emotional needs of all students while also ensuring that all students are safe. Please reach out if you have any concerns.
There is no school on Monday and we will follow the Monday schedule on Tuesday, October 10. 2023.
Go Penguins!
Sincerely,
Adrienne Norris
Interim Principal
