STAAR Review and Dance Parties
We are beginning to review important skills and concepts in Reading to prepare for STAAR. On Mondays, we will review a skill (analyzing characters, theme, context clues, text features, main idea/detail, etc) and the teacher will model thinking through a question example. On Tuesdays, students will work through a short passage with a partner to focus on that same skill. On Thursdays, we will take a short independent practice for the students to show what they know. The entire week, we will have them using our "Hit the QUAN" strategies, which are test-taking strategies. Students who pass the test AND use their strategies for the practice on Thursday will be invited to the weekly dance party on Friday. If the student did not pass the practice, they will get some extra help on that skill with one of the teachers during the dance party. If the student did not use strategies for the practice, they will work with a teacher on how to better use those strategies during the dance party.
