It is celebrated in the United States and in Mexico,in the state of Puebla.
Why they celebrate 5 de Mayo?
They celebrate the victory of Mexican army over French at the battle of Puebla.
What are the Historical aspects of 5 de Mayo?
Well we think that it's important for the Mexico's history because the Mexican army had an important victory over French (they showed that we don't give up and it can probably inspire the army we have now on these days)... Some Mexican people are proud to say "Yo soy Mexicano!!" because they remember what the Mexicans did on the 5 de Mayo.

They were total 10,540 soldiers in the war. 462 French soldiers died in combat. Only 83 Mexican soldiers died in the battle.
