Red River Updates
July 31, 2020
Greetings Red River Families,
The Grand Forks School Board passed a motion at their meeting Tuesday, July 28th to move the start dates for the 2020-2021 school year. Students in kindergarten-9th grades will begin on Monday, August 31st and students in 10th-12th grades will begin on Tuesday, September 1st.
This move provides three additional days for our school employees to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year.
At the meeting, administration also shared that families will be given an option to select face-to-face or remote learning for the 2020-2021 school year. Information on those options is still being prepared. We are also preparing another set of surveys to be distributed to our employees and families regarding our learning scenarios. You can anticipate that information to be shared during the week of August 3rd.

Athletic Participation- White Cards
A table will be set up Monday, August 3 - Friday August 7th outside of Door #1 on Knudsvig Dr. from 10:00am-1:30pm for students/parents to get their white cards for all fall sports. White cards are used to indicate that student athletes have completed all necessary paperwork/processes in order to compete. Athletes must present white cards to coaches in order to begin practice.
Physical distancing is required during white card distribution and you will be asked to wear a mask.
Please have the following information ready, as it applies to your student, to receive your white card.
1) Sports Participation Fee: $80.00 The preferred method of payment is through your student's www.myschoolbucks.com account (there is NO additional fee for using myschoolbucks). As an alternative, checks will be accepted. Checks should be made out to GFPS. Exact cash is needed as we will not have change.
OR
Participation Fee Waiver - If you would like to fill out a Participation Fee - Waiver Request, please do so and turn that in along with your Free and Reduced Lunch application, which determines eligibility for a participation waiver.2) Physical Waiver (Form B) or Recent Physical - Any student with a physical on file at Red River High School last year (2019-20) or any incoming freshmen who had their physical on file at their GFPS middle school last year does NOT need an updated physical examination for the 2020-21 school year. The NDSHAA has waived this for one year. These students with physicals on file will need to complete a waiver form (Physical Form B), which can be found in the links provided. The date of your last physical will be entered by RRHS staff, so do NOT worry about that on Form B.
***If you are new to the district or do not have a physical on file, you will need to turn in a signed physical form after an examination.
3) Code of Conduct Form and Concussion Form - All students MUST fill out a new Code of Conduct and Concussion Form, regardless if they have one on file from last year or not.
All above documents can be found at this link- https://www.gfschools.org/Domain/1626
