Boo at The Zoo
On October 30, 2015 we dedicated a few hours of our day to volunteer at The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo passing out candy to families trick or treating for the holiday. The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo celebrated 50 years of business this year. This is our second year participating in this annual event.
THE TRIBE DOES THE WORK
JAG Spreading the Warmth
JAG decided to use Thanksgiving week (November 23-25, 2015) to make fleece blankets for a local homeless shelter, Vincent Village. Vincent Village is the only transitional shelter in Fort Wayne that accepts men, women, and children; aiming to keep families together even through hard times.
JAG's 1st Annual Comforter Drive
Vincent Village was in dire need of twin sized comforters for their 36 beds and we decided to do our part in helping them by donating gently used comforters from our own homes that weren't being used. We also donated twin sized sheet sets to accompany the comforters. The drive lasted from November 17- December 1, 2015.
Festival of Trees
This is JAG's second year volunteering during the 31st annual Festival of Trees event at the Embassy Theater in downtown Fort Wayne. JAG members lead guided tours around the building as well as supervised young children who were performing holiday classics to patrons. This event took place November 27-29, 2015.
12 Days of Giving
North Side High School participated in a school wide community service event for twelve days. JAG's contribution to 12 Days of Giving was donating non-perishable items to be donated to St. Mary's Soup Kitchen. School wide, North Side was able to donate over 3,000 items. This took place November 16- December 3, 2015.
ACCEPT THE REDSKIN CHALLEGE
We would like to challenge all JAG Indiana members to continue to seek opportunities to extend a hand in their school and individuals communities. Thanks to JAG we have found our purpose.
North Side JAG members will continue to help our community through volunteer work and leading by example in order too better ourselves for future careers and leaving an impact on the world. Sincerely North Side Tribe :)
