From the Principal's Desk
Hello Rose Pioneer Families,
March is Reading Month! It's hard to believe that we are only three weeks away from Spring Break and reading month is upon us. We have a lot of fun activities planned and you can see many of them on the calendar below.
We are also celebrating March Mathness at Rose Pioneer! Each class at Rose Pioneer will be participating in a friendly ST Math Brackets Competition this month. Classrooms will be competing for the highest number of puzzles each week. The winners for the week will get to compete with another winning class until only one class is left. The winning class will receive Ice Cream Sundays on Friday, March 22. Students can complete ST Math puzzles at school or they can log in at home through Clever with their school logins.
Thank you to those who ordered a Little Caesars Pizza Kit to assist with reducing the cost of camp for students! Little Caesars hasn't given a specific date yet, but we do know that delivery will take place at Rose Pioneer the week of March 11th. Once a date is confirmed, we will communicate with everyone. We appreciate your support!
It's almost time to enroll your child(ren) in Young Fives or Kindergarten! The postcard below has been mailed to all homes in the Holly Area School district and you can also pick up a copy in the main office. Please share this opportunity with anyone you know who has a child eligible for Y5s/Kindergarten this coming school year and be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday, March 14th when we will host an enrollment open house from 5 - 7 pm!
Rose Pioneer's Annual Education Report (AER) provides key information on the 2022-2023 educational progress for Rose Pioneer Elementary School. It also addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. You may obtain a paper copy in the main office, or find it posted on our website here: https://www.hask12.org/downloads/annual_ed_reports/22-23_rel_aer_letter.pdf.
Fifth grade students have started their transition meetings to prepare for middle school! 5th grade families are encouraged to attend the Holly Middle School Leadership Night and 6th Grade Orientation highlighted in the flyer below. Please mark your calendars for March 7th! Fifth graders will also travel to Holly Middle School with their teachers on Monday, March 11th from 12:30 - 3:00 pm. While visiting the middle school, students will learn all about scheduling options for next year, take a tour of the school, and spend time in the STEMi, a mobile STEM lab that is super cool!
Is there a teacher, staff member or administrator you would like to recognize or praise? Please use the link below to shout out the good things you see (or hear from your student) happening at Holly Schools! We are all one team, and we are all working towards the goal of growing successful students. We love to recognize our staff for all the good they are doing to empower our students to reach for their best! https://forms.gle/RUqUcj91oHm9fkWZ8

The Leader in Me & Core Competencies
Social awareness is the ability to recognize and understand the emotions, perspectives, and needs of others. Social awareness comprises several components, including empathy, perspective-taking, respect, and inclusivity. It involves understanding and valuing diversity, recognizing social cues, and adapting one’s behavior accordingly. Developing social awareness skills in students has many benefits. It enhances communication skills, promotes teamwork and collaboration, and fosters a sense of belonging and acceptance. It also helps students manage conflicts and build positive relationships, leading to improved overall well-being.
Ideas to try at home:
You can teach social skills by modeling them. You can show kids how to take turns and see things from others' perspectives. You can also teach kids social skills through books, TV or movies by talking to them about how the characters interact and communicate with each other. If you need more ideas, reach out to your child’s teacher.
