Student Intent Letters
Teachers,
I wanted you to be aware of information we need to collect from our current families to determine the impact of students who will not return to HSES for the 19-20 school year. It is imperative that you collect the information back for each student. I have attached letters for Track 4 and the letter for Tracks 1,2,3. You will also receive a few copies in Spanish for your class. I also had it translated in Arabic but I have not received this back from the Office of Translation.
We will be around to distribute the letters to you for track 4. Other tracks will be placed in your box by the first week of April.
Track 4: Please send these home TODAY or no later than Monday. They are to be returned by Friday, March 29th before track out.
Tracks 1, 2, 3: Please send these home by Friday, April 5th and the letters need to be returned by April 10th.
When you receive the letters, you can hold them until you have most of your class and then turn them in to Natalie/Anita in the office.
Thanks so much and let me know if you have questions,
Mrs. Clark
National Volunteer Service Week
National Volunteer Service Week
April 8th - 12th, 2019
Our Goal: Every student at HSES will participate in some form of service to prepare students for productive citizenship.
Service Opportunity:
Letters to Veterans or Active-Duty Military - Students will write a letter or draw a picture for a veteran or active-duty military member.
Procedure for Letters to Veterans/Active-Duty Military
Provide time and materials for students to write a letter, create a card, or draw a picture.
Only first names should be used. Do not include addresses or other identifiers.
Use the provided templates (make copies of the ones you’ll need for your class) or allow students to create their own unique card, letter, or drawing.
Separate the cards/letters by Active-Duty and Veterans.
Turn in your completed class set to Ms. Davenport for delivery and mailing by Monday, April 15th.
Please take photos and use the following tags when posting on Twitter during National Volunteer week:
@WCPSS and #igniteaspark
@NC4VETS or @USOofNC
Thank you for your support!

Strawbridge Pictures
Tracks 3/4 Teachers,
As monies and returned pictures come in daily please record who has brought pictures/money back on your teacher envelope. Send your envelope to the office and it will be emptied and returned to your box. Please let your parents know we will need all monies and/or returned pictures by next Friday morning, March 22. You can do this through your regular classroom communication method. (email, newsletter, etc.)
Strawbridge will here to pick up monies/pictures on that Friday (3/22) afternoon. Please make sure you have a copy of your class picture information for your records. This will be helpful if any questions should arise.
NC Check-INs
All Teachers:
Grades 3-5 are taking the NC Check-Ins online test on March 26th (track 4) and April 9th (tracks 1,2,3).
In order to make this a successful testing session for our students, we again need to use Chromebooks from many non-testing classrooms.
Carefully review the linked chart (2 pages) to see when your Chromebooks will be used for testing and adjust your plans to have these available for the testing classrooms that day.
Please let me know ASAP if there is mistake on the chart or if you have any questions/concerns.
Emily Quigley
