Principal's Message
This Thursday is a super exciting event- the return of our annual Jog-A-Thon! Even though we can't have parents on campus cheering our students on, we know you'll be there in spirit. Many of you also bought signs to show your spirit! I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Tangie Rutherford for organizing this entire event. To date, we've raised over $22,000 for our classrooms. And, thank you to all our parent volunteers and those who donated money. I'm excited to dress up as the LeGette Eagle next week as a reward to our students (and parents) for raising so much money. Again, thank you everyone!
I appreciate all families who are being really diligent about keeping their children home when they are experiencing flu and cold symptoms. This minimizes the number of students who we have to to send home. As most of you are aware, if students are out sick (i.e. same symptoms as with COVID) they need to have a COVID-19 test or doctor's note before they return. This can be a PCR or Rapid Test from a medical provider or drug store. Or, you can obtain one from school. Please be sure to register prior to coming in. There's a link on our LeGette website under Quick Links. If you get a doctor's note, it needs to state that the symptoms are not COVID related and they are _______ symptoms instead. An alternative diagnosis is required. And, before students return to school their symptoms need to "significantly improve."
Thank you for reinforcing with your children a few of the basic LeGette expectations: being safe (no running in the hallways), being respectful (kind words with students and adults, and not putting hands/feet on others), and being responsible (getting to school on-time and completing all work). Transitioning back to school full-time has been a challenge for many students this year. Everyone seems to have a positive attitude. I just think that a few reminders about expectations is important. Thanks for your support in this area.
Lastly, I’d like to give everyone an early reminder about our upcoming parent conference week, November 15-19. During this time, TK and Kindergarten are on their regular schedule. First through sixth grade students are dismissed at 12:05 p.m. Thank you for arranging proper transportation, so students are picked up on-time. Also, since most conferences will be via Zoom again this year, I highly encourage you to attend your parent conference and be a part of your student’s education. If you aren’t contacted and desire a conference, please contact your student’s teacher. Thank you!
As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at school. Thank, you!
