CAPT NEWS
Thank you to all who joined us for a wonderful pajama story time! Shoutout to Jacki Abrams for an amazing read aloud.
Our next meeting will be on January 17th, but CAPT will still be holding events as we approach the new year.....
- Need a night off of cooking? Be on the lookout for info about a Rodman restaurant event at CF McCarthy’s November 29 and 30th. Dine in or takeout and mention the Rodman and CAPT will get a percentage of the profits. Thank you Rojay and Brittany Wagner.
- Spirit Wear is being ordered, we will be in contact with when to expect it.
- Please look through your closets!! CAPT will continue to collect for the COAT’s for Kids Program through January 8th. Bring in gently used children’s and adults winter jackets. There will be a box located at the entrance to the school and feel free to send in with your child. Every little bit helps.
- Please take some time to look at the flyer below and see the importance of CAPT at the Rodman. We need more participation to keep it going next year. How much and when you help can be up to you but we need new members.
CAPT Pajamas Storytime Event
Thank you to all that participated in our CAPT Pajama Storytime Event! The night was packed FULL of our Pete the Cat theme, highlighting this month's Author's Study at Rodman Preschool. The event included free play, a book reading, and a fun craft! Thank you to our own Jackie Abrams (Humanities Coordinator - Prek-5) for being our guest reader and to all of our CAPT leadership and volunteers for your participation! It was a GREAT night!

Seal of Biliteracy
We are pleased to inform you of the Canton Public Schools’ participation in the Massachusetts
State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2023-2024 school year. The Seal of Biliteracy is offered any
student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or
sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community.
If your child is in grades 8-12 and is interested in earning the MA State Seal of Biliteracy, please
complete the 2023-2024 Seal of Biliteracy Survey Google Form by December 1, 2023, to help us
plan and schedule partner language testing. Please note that partner language examinations carry
different costs ($20-$200) and are ordered in December 2023.

Nurse Note - Screenings
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Throughout the month of November I will be conducting State Mandated health screenings for vision only. Last September, annual vision screening (near and far) became mandatory for all preschool students in public schools. I perform these screenings in the classrooms and most children are eager to have a turn. Additionally, I have equipment to perform hearing screenings. If you have any concerns about your child’s ability to hear, I am happy to screen them. These screenings are a beneficial tool that may help identify potential issues that could affect your students' health and learning.
If you have any questions or concerns about these screenings, please reach out to me.
All the best,
Nurse Bailey
CORI and Fingerprinting
Reminder:
A CORI check IS required for all volunteers.
Fingerprinting IS required if you are interested in volunteering with direct and unmonitored interactions with students. This included chaperoning field trips.
Fingerprinting is NOT required if you are volunteering under supervision of a school staff member. This included room parents, guest speakers and volunteers at field day events.
*They can take awhile to process so please fill them out early so they have enough time to be returned prior to a field trip or volunteer opportunity
Please provide a copy of your fingerprinting receipt to Susan Crespi crespis@cantonma.org to let us know you completed fingerprinting.
