Seeking Out More Volunteers for Explore More Day
Explore More Day has been a longstanding tradition at Madison and we are excited to be able to bring it back this year. We cannot pull off an event like this without a large volunteer effort so we are calling for all willing volunteers.
What is Explore More Day?
Typically held the Friday before Memorial Day, it is a daylong program of learning from parents, guest teachers through hands-on activities. Sub-committee volunteers are needed for each grade, along with volunteers to teach classes, and help instructors in class.
What help is needed?
Committee Chair (1 or 2 Volunteers)
Responsibilities include:
- Host kick off meeting with sub-committee volunteers
- Responsible for communicating to sub-committee volunteers
- Coordination with Madison staff
- Attending day of activities
Don't worry, we have templates of all the documents you would need from past years! We just need someone willing to step up and lead the effort! Volunteers do NOT need to set the cirriculum.
Responsibilities include:
Volunteers will help in pre-event coordination with volunteers/instructors and materials as well as attending day of activities.
- Kindergarten-3 Volunteer Openings
- 1st Grade-1 Volunteer Opening
- 2nd-5th Grade-6 Volunteer Openings

Burgers Bring Funds for Madison PTA
Thank you to everyone who participated in this week's "Cook's Night Out" fundraiser. A special thank you to Wheaton's Burger Social for donating 15% of proceeds mentioning our school, to the Madison PTA. Thanks, too, to Kate Kessler for organizing! Delicious results for all!
Students Continue to Make a Difference with Madison Cares
This year each grade has the option to take part in one project during their lunch recess to support the local DuPage Pads organization. So far Madison students have:
- Created activity bags for children (1st Graders)
- Made Valentines cards with a prepackaged treat (2nd Graders)
- Made fleece blankets (5th Graders)
Coming up, grade levels will:
- Put together Mens & Womens personal care packs
- Put together baby care donation packs
If you are interested in volunteering during your student’s project, or have questions, please email secretary@madisonschoolpta.org
About DuPage Pads
The mission of Pads is to end homelessness by providing immediate shelter and food, and connecting individuals and families with resources on a path to get from dependency to self-sufficiency. Our goal is to help students gain an understanding of the needs of others in our community, and simple ways they can give back.
This week students were shown this video message from April Redzic, CEO of DuPage Pads who shares how the organization supports local families in need of shelter, and their gratitude for all the help from our kids at Madison!
