School Clothing Expectations
UPDATE: We have had numerous students arrive at FHES with spaghetti straps, short skirts/shorts, and clothing that is not appropriate for elementary school. Please check your child's attire before they come to school. I have already made several calls regarding dress code and your child will be asked to add a sweater or change their clothing.
It is finally getting warm outside and everyone is excited to break out their summer clothes! Many of our retrievers have grown quite a bit over the winter and we want to make sure all clothing is elementary school appropriate:
- shorts/skirts/dresses must be to the fingertips
- Shirts should cover shoulders and midriff area-no spaghetti straps or exposed belly buttons.
- shoes should be playground safe- shoes should tie/velcro, no open toe or flipflops.
- Uggs, Crocs, Vans, and Hey Dudes are not permitted for physical education.
- accessories...hats, purses, sunglasses, etc. are great for after school or on spirit days, but please don't send them to school with your student or they will be asked to keep them in their backpack since they typically become a distraction.
- Keep a sweater/sweatshirt in backpack for chilly classrooms.
Please ensure students are dressed appropriately prior to leaving for school and if a student dresses inappropriately they will be asked to change their clothing.
Wear BLUE on 4/2: Students will Walk for STRIVE!
Reminders:
- April is the month of the Military Child and we are grateful for the parents and guardians who bravely serve while also remembering the challenges and impact it has on the family. Please join us in wearing PURPLE to honor our military children on one or all of the following days:
- Aberdeen Proving Ground β Friday, April 5, 2024
- Military One Source β Monday, April 8, 2024
- Military Interstate Childrenβs Compact Commission β Wednesday, April 17, 2024
- Military Child Education Coalition β Friday, April 19, 2024
- Attendance: It is important for students to be in school each day and available for learning unless they are ill. Nurse Barlow does an exceptional job supporting families when they are unsure whether to send students to school. π«
- Water Bottles- all student water bottles must be plastic beginning 4/2.
- FHES Events: Please check our school website for important dates! (Learn with Me, Grade Level Picnics, End of the Year events, etc.)
- Physical Education Class: Please remember that all students must have low-heeled rubber soled shoes that stay on the foot and tie or velcro to participate in Physical Education. Uggs, Crocs, Vans, and Hey Dudes are not permitted for physical education or recess. Sending in an extra pair to keep at school is a great option. Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe and active!
- Yearbook Pictures: We are always looking for photos full of retrievers for the yearbook! Please send to yearbook.fhes@gmail.com
- North Harford MS Transition to Middle School event is 4/29 from 6:00-7:00 PM at NHMS. This event is for parents only and will provide an opportunity to learn more about middle school expectations and experiences.
- Bel Air & Fallston Middle parents...we will share updates about possible events when we have additional information.
