New Casimir Policy
Starting now, during Quarter 4, all students receiving 3 or more tardies in a week will receive a reflection detention on Wednesday after school and any students with 2 or more minor referrals in a month will be issued a Tuesday morning reflection detention.
Q3 Report Cards
Q3 report cards will be emailed to both primary guardians and students in the afternoon on Wednesday, 4/17/24. Check your email!

Here are block schedule dates coming up in April and May at North HS.
Everyone has a period 1 so everyone should come on the "ODD (Periods 1,3,5)" Block Schedule Period 1 days. You will ride the bus back after period 1 is finished that day.
If you do not have a period 2 class at North, then you will not come to North on the "EVEN (period 2,4,6)" Block Schedule days and instead please report to your middle school for 1st period.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO COME ON THE CORRECT BLOCK SCHEDULE DATES!
If you come on the wrong date, there may not be transportation available to transport you back to your middle school.
Here are the dates with "ODD" Block Schedule and only Period 1 and Period 3 class. NO period 2 class on these dates:
4/16, 4/18, 4/22, 5/20, 5/22, 5/28
Here are the dates with "EVEN" Block Schedule and only Period 2 class. NO period 1 or 3 class on these dates:
Again if you do not take a 2nd period class at North, please report directly to your middle school in the morning on the dates below!

Student Council April Spirit Week!
Monday, 4/15: Cultural Day - Wear your culture's clothes.
Tuesday, 4/16: On Tuesday (4/16), we'll be having a face painting fundraiser for $3 during lunch. Proceeds will go to fund future school events. The paint will be small (not covering the entire face) and school appropriate. The paint used will be non-toxic and washable. If you do not want your child to participate, please email Mr. Cho at cho.randy@tusd.org.
Wednesday, 4/17: Wear your football jerseys.
Thursday, 4/18: Twin Day
*There will be no Flag Football Tournament on Thursday.
Friday, 4/19: Pj Day and the dance will take place after school.
School Dance on Friday, 4/19!
Next Friday April 19th, Student Council is going to have their third and final dance of the School Year! The theme is Glow in the Dark!
Permission slips are in the office and are required to get in along with your Casimir ID. Food and drinks will be for sale! The dance is semi formal and will be from 5 - 7pm! For more information, please ask Mr. Cho or any Student Council members.
Cross Country Event
There will be a cross country event held at Hull Middle School on Tuesday, April 23rd. Please arrive at 3:45. The first race will start at 4pm. Permission slips are available in the front office. If you have any questions please see Mr. Fladeland.
PTSA Parent Education Night on College Savings
PTSA will be hosting a Parent Education Night on college savings on April 23rd at 6pm in the Casimir Cafeteria. Some light food will be provided. This will be a great way to help prepare and receive information on how to best save for your child's college education. Please sign up using the link here.
Casimir Spring Carnival
Casimir Community! It's time for our Spring Carnival which will be held on Friday, April 26th after school. Families are encouraged to attend as there will be yummy food, baked goods, raffle baskets, games, music and vendor/craft fair!!
Please purchase tickets to be used for raffle and games ahead of time for bonus tickets!!! Presale food MEAL's are also available for purchase now.

Torrance Unified Emergency Alert System
On Monday, April 29 our Communications Department will hold a districtwide test of our Torrance Unified Emergency Alert System. As part of this drill, all families will receive a test DRILL text to emergency contact mobile phones listed in PowerSchool requesting them to check tusd.org/alerts for more information. This website will offer ongoing alerts in the event of a drill or a real emergency at one or more school campuses. Please update your emergency contact numbers in PowerSchool prior to April 29, and monitor your emails this month for more detailed information and instructions.

Online Parenting Classes

Torrance Unified Building Bridges, part of Student Services offers you the opportunity to participate in our free ACTIVE PARENTING workshop series. Over 6-8 weeks the virtual workshops (offered in English and Spanish) will offer support through videos, discussions, and real-world examples to help you learn a range of skills including:

Co-Parenting through Separation/Divorce Class for Parents
Our Building Bridges staff will host an in-person Cooperative Co-Parenting class series for parents experiencing separation or divorce to find helpful tools to support their families. These free classes will run between February 21 to April 17 (Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) on the 2nd floor of the Family Welcome Enrollment Center (FWEC) at 2336 Plaza del Amo, Torrance CA, 90501.
Torrance Sister City Association “8th Annual Anime Art Contest 2024”
Students, you have the opportunity to enter the Torrance Sister City Association “8th Annual Anime Art Contest 2024.” Entries must be submitted on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 4 pm – 6 pm at the Ken Miller Recreation Center (3341 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503). Winners will be announced on Saturday, April 20 at 12:15 pm at the annual Bunka-Sai Japanese Cultural Festival held from April 20-21.
Bunka Sai Japanese Cultural Festival
Please inform your elementary to high school students about the 49th Annual Bunka-Sai Japanese Cultural Festival that will take place at the Ken Miller Recreation Center (3341 Torrance Boulevard) on April 20-21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (both Saturday and Sunday). The event will include arts and crafts, cultural performances, martial arts, and food! Volunteer opportunities are available for both adults and students. Students are eligible to receive community service hours for both days (work includes set up, takedown, helping with booths, food stands, etc.).

Our first-ever Innovation Festival drew more than 3,500 attendees in a celebration of creativity, knowledge, and... INNOVATION! A big thank you to all of you who joined the activities and supported our students.
We are proud to announce that 17 of our Torrance Unified students qualified to move on to the National Invention Convention competition in Dearborn Michigan in June. A complete list of winners can be found on our Invention Convention website. We had 26 schools that had a winner of some sort (best log book, judges choice, best pitch, grade level awards, industry sector awards, etc).

Our next Esports Season with Smash Bros starts next week on Tuesday after school. Please meet in the computer lab room 47. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch and games will be Tuesdays after school. Permission slips are required and available in the front office. If/When your student is absent please notify us via email by sending an absence note with the following information to cook.lindsay@tusd.org
Absence Notes should include:
1. Date
2. Name of your Child
3. Date of absence
4. Reason for absence (if out due to illness please specify what symptoms your child is having)
5. Parent/Guardian Name & Relationship (absence notes can only be accepted from Primary Guardians listed in PowerSchool)
6. Phone Number where you can be reached
