Virtual Student Parade - Thursday, October 15th, 6-7:30
Parents and Students we are thrilled to announce our first Virtual Student Appreciation Parade. Next Thursday, October 15th the teachers, staff, and administration would like to invite all Virtual and Virtual Plus students to attend this event.
Many of your virtual teachers will be here and are eager to see you in person even if it is through your car window. Starting at 6:00 p.m. we invite families to load in their car and head to Harmon. You will see our cheerleaders and teachers outside in the main entrance loop with a spirited welcome you as you drive through. There will be several stations for you to drive through while we shower you with a variety of fun gifts, and important information for the year. This is also how you will be able to get your student ID.
At the end of the parade we have arranged for our very own Big John to join us to take a quick photo with you and your family. Big John will be social distanced in the photograph but is eager to join our festivities and make this a lasting memory for your 2020 school year. The Photograph with Big John is the only opportunity for each student/family to exit their vehicle for this one of a kind photo opportunity before heading off to enjoy the rest of your evening. This event is intended for our Virtual and Virtual Plus students and their families, you are a part of our Harmon family and we cannot wait to shower you with gifts and helpful information as you head into the next grading period.
Deadline EXTENDED for parents of Virtual and Virtual Plus students to register for the PSAT until Friday, October 16th.
World Teacher Day
COVID Case Tracker
We have received many questions about lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases and how the district is tracking and reporting this information. Tracking these numbers and keeping them accurate and up-to-date is not an automated process or system. We are doing our best to keep our families informed, while also being as accurate as possible in our reporting. We thank you for your patience and grace as we have worked through some of the kinks throughout the first three weeks of in-person learning. Please know that we absolutely understand decisions about learning pathways rely a great deal on what our case numbers look like on our campuses.
With that said, we wanted to let you know that as of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, the number of lab-confirmed ACTIVE COVID-19 cases on our campus is 1. We also wanted to let you know beginning Oct. 12, the district will report ACTIVE lab-confirmed cases on a DAILY basis at LISD.net/COVIDtracker. Daily case numbers will be collected starting at 4 p.m. each day, and will be updated on the website the following day by 10 a.m.
Quarantine Periods
We have received several inquiries from families about contact tracing and quarantine periods. While we understand this process might be confusing or even frustrating for some, we want to assure you that we are following Denton County Health Department and CDC guidelines and recommendations when it comes to who is quarantining and for how long. The Texas Medical Association has put together a helpful flowchart that may answer some of your questions or concerns. Please know, LISD’s top priority continues to be the health and safety of our 50,000 students and 6,000 staff members.
