Congratulations to the 164 new members of National Honor Society (NHS) at Brownsburg High School. They were inducted in a ceremony last month. NHS in Brownsburg has some of the most rigorous requirements in the state. Members must achieve a 3.8 or higher cumulative GPA while also demonstrating leadership, scholarship, character, and service.
Teachers and Staff Members of the Year
Congratulations to this year's Teachers and Staff Members of the Year at Brownsburg Schools! The winners were selected through nominations and voting in their schools or departments. They will celebrate with their families at a ceremony during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week in May. *Due to the small size of its staff, BECC celebrates a staff member every other year
ILEARN Testing Begins April 15 for Grades 3 Through 8
BCSC students in grades three through eight, and all middle and high school students taking biology, will be taking Indiana's state assessment, ILEARN, starting Monday, April 15. Please refrain from making appointment for your students during this time, especially the last two weeks of April. Look for specific information on testing dates from your student's school.
BCSC Approves Dunning, Ebert
At the March 11 BCSC School Board meeting, the Board approved Scott Dunning as the next Director of Safety/Chief of Police for BCSC. Corey Ebert was approved and will transition to the role of Director of Finance on July 1.
Scott Dunning is a Brownsburg resident and has served the Indiana University Police Department since 1995. Officer Dunning progressed to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and most recently led the Indiana University Police Department’s Central Division, which includes the Indianapolis, Richmond, and Kokomo campuses. Chief Dunning will join BCSC in late April and will take over the leadership of BCSCPD when Chief Wing retires from police work this summer.
Corey Ebert has been part of the BHS leadership team for the last 7 years. As Assistant Principal for BHS Teams 2021 and 2025, he has been an integral part of the journey of hundreds of Brownsburg High School students. Mr. Ebert was in the classroom for 9 years before he became an Assistant Principal. He has his MBA in Educational Leadership from University of Indianapolis. He will join the team in the BCSC business office this summer. The BHS Assistant Principal position has been posted with plans to have the Team 2025 Assistant Principal in place prior to the next school year.

BHS Musician Performs with Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra
BHS senior Seth Koons was invited to play in the annual Side by Side Concert with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra last month. His stellar audition with his tuba secured a spot to perform with one of the best symphonies in the country. Congratulations Seth!
BHS Broadcasting Students Are State Champs
Students in the BHS broadcasting class and those who participate in the extracurricular Extended Play program brought home a State Championship at the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters Conference & Awards ceremony in March. Congratulations to BHS-TV students B. Morse, E. Balbach, C. Roche, and A. Fulk (top) for winning Video Sports Program for their Girls Basketball Sectional Preview Show. BCSC.tv and Extended Play had eleven different projects finish in the top 5 in the state this year. More Brownsburg broadcasting students were recognized than ever before!
BHS Show Choirs, Winter Guard, and Winter Percussion Wrap Up Seasons
BHS Open Guard finished in second in the Indiana High School Color Guard Association (IHSCGA) Open Class on March 16. They also took fifth place in their division at the Winter Guard International (WGI) Mideast Power Regional on March 24.
BHS Winter Percussion took first place in their division at the Indiana Percussion Association (IPA) Prelims on March 23. Their continued excellence in the Open Class caused them to be moved to the highest division for finals - for the first time in BHS history! They finished 4th in the World Class Finals on Saturday.
The BHS Show Choirs competed at Show Choir Nationals in Nashville, TN on March 21 & 22. Spotlight Singers and Company qualified for the national final in the Mixed Division with Starlight Voices (right) finishing 2nd in the Single Gender Division.
BCSC Launches BOOST for Before and After School Care - Registration Opens April 22
BCSC will be taking over the before and after school program at our schools starting with the 2024-2025 school year. BOOST (Bulldogs Out Of School Time) will be a program for K-6 students and will be similar to the B.A.S.E./PEAK programs that have been operating in our buildings through Brownsburg Parks. Find more information at the link below. BOOST registration for the 24-25 school year will open April 22, 2024. The program will begin hiring site managers and BOOST staff on April 15th.

Support Brownsburg Bands in the Running of the Bulldogs 5K
The Running of the Bulldogs 5K is a community event to raise money for the Brownsburg High School Band, Guard, and Orchestra. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Brownsburg East Middle School. Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are welcome!

BCSC Food and Clothing Pantry
The BCSC Food and Clothing Pantry operates through a partnership with Gleaners Food Bank. Thanks to the hard work of community and staff volunteers and Applied Skills students in the Collaborators for Success program at BHS, the pantry continues to serve many families in Brownsburg. BCSC families have also contributed donations to help make the pantry a great resource for our community.
The pantry will serve families again Thursday (4/18) from 3pm-5:30pm in a drive thru setting and always on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays of the month. Visitors can pull up to door #7 at the ALPHA/Harris Academy building, 725 C South Green Street.
