October 2 - COLLEGE AWARENESS DAY
Wednesday Folders
Your child will bring home a Wednesday Folder for your review. Each Wednesday take time to discuss your child’s work and praise your child’s good efforts. If there are areas that need to be improved, discuss how this can be accomplished. Taking time to talk about schoolwork shows that you care about the things your child spent most of the day doing. Your comments and concerns can be communicated through the Wednesday Folder. This is a good way to stay in touch with your child’s teacher and to know how your child is progressing weekly.
Adjustments in class assignments
During the first several weeks of school, your child’s teacher may be changed. This may be due to balancing of class sizes, and addition or deletion of a teacher, or an instructional ability grouping change. These changes are made only to improve the instructional program of the students. When these changes become necessary, we will inform you by letter or direct contact. In the event that your child should be changed, your cooperation in making this a smooth transition for your child is requested.
Visitors to Campus
Visitors to Campus
All visitors to our campus must check in at our front office. A valid driver’s license will be needed to check in to visit any area past the front office. Name tags will be provided and should be worn at all times by all visitors. Please check out and return your tag to the front office before leaving.
Lunch Visitors
Monday - 1st Grade
Tuesday - 2nd Grade
Wednesday - Kinder & 3rd Grade
Thursday - 4th Grade
Friday - 5th Grade
We have assigned days for you to come and enjoy lunch with your child. Please follow the schedule listed. If you have circumstances that hinder you from adhering to the assigned lunch days, please contact an administrator for approval.
Rights of Possessory Conservator
The school district does not have the obligation to contact the managing conservator when the possessory conservator requests permission to review the child’s records and/or consult with the teacher.
Any conflicts between the two parents should be handled outside the school and we should be advised of any limitations of contact that might ultimately be established in the divorce decree; i.e., a visit with the child exclusive of a review of the records, etc.
Custody Issues
Please assist us in the handling of custody related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide the campus registrar a certified copy of the court order affecting any other person’s right to their children. Should you have any question, please call Cassandra Christian, Principal at 832-375-8000.
Attendance
In the event a student is absent from school for any reason, he or she is required on his return to school to bring a written excuse signed by his/her parent or guardian. If your child goes to the doctor, then we would only request the medical note. In order for the absence to be considered an excused absence, the note must be presented within five school days after the absence.
Early Dismissal by 3:00 p.m.
If you need to pick your child up before the end of the day, please send a note to the front office in the morning. At the requested dismissal time, please come in to the front office and sign him/her out. Our goal is the safety of your child. We must ensure that your child is released to approved people.
Medication at School
All medication, prescription and over the counter, must be delivered to the clinic by a parent or guardian. Prescription medications must be in the original container with prescription label. Most pharmacies will provide you with an extra bottle when you fill prescriptions if you ask them. Over the counter medications must have a dosage for the child by age or weight and can only be given for 2 weeks without a doctor’s note. Unused medication can not be sent home with the student. If the parent or guardian cannot pick up medication, you may make arrangements with the nurse for another adult to pick up medication. No vitamins, health food, or herbal preparations may be given.
