NEW ABSENCE POLICY- Administration has issued new guidelines concerning absences and Zooms. Please see the information "Changes Ahead" below. Zoom classes will still be available for students who are asked to quarantine by the nurse. Quarantined students should follow their regular daily schedule over Zoom.
Please warn your students about logging into other students' school Google accounts. This is not an "innocent" offense. It will earn your child a trip to the principal's office and possibly limited technology privileges.
Masks - Please help us remind the students to wear masks appropriately throughout the day. Mouths and noses need to be covered unless eating or outside and 6 feet apart.
IT'S DECADES MUSEUM TIME!!
What is it? A living, walkable timeline museum of the 20th century. Students are preparing in their ELA and Social Studies classes.
When is it? The museum will be presented Thursday, May 20th
How is my child preparing? Students are researching, planning, and creating at least 4 pieces that represent their chosen decade. Most of this work is done at school, but your child may have chosen to do a piece that needs to be done at home. These are personal choices that students make. We have basic supplies like poster board, glue, tape, paper, markers, etc at school, but your child may have plans that require parental support. Please talk to your child about their plans.
Can I come to the Museum? Unfortunately, because of COVID restrictions, parents are not allowed to attend this year. We promise to take lots of pictures!
When is everything due? Individual due dates are staggered throughout the instructional process. The absolute last date that items can be brought to school is Monday, May 17th.
Where can I get more information? Check out the website button below!
What about my remote student? Remote parents, it is crucial that you read this LETTER and fill out the form in this letter by Friday, May 7th.
SCIENCE
We are in the final week of review before Science STAAR. It is a time to remind and revisit the TEKS that are most heavily tested on Science STAAR, May 13th. Since we do not teach to the test, we are reviewing information that we covered early in the year to bring it more into recent memory through review games, videos, and discussion. We all want our kids to show the growth they have made on STAAR.

SOCIAL STUDIES
We continue to spend our time in Social Studies on the 5th Grade Decades Museum Project. (Please see the link to the website above.) All students should have completed their Thematic Timeline or Back in the Day Economy project and turned it in. We are now working on the first free choice artifact. It is due May 4th. We are loving the excitement that this project is generating. Most work is completed in class, but some students are choosing to continue working on their artifact at home, so you may see it. We will begin work on the second free choice artifact immediately after this is due. The final date to turn in these 4 exhibits for the museum is May 17th
