Pier 24 News
Dear UMAC Parents,
During PARCC testing our students created iMovie book trailers for some of the shared reading and read aloud books we've read throughout the year. It was fun to watch the student's plan the details and work collaboratively to produce their movie. We invited the third grade students to watch our iMovies today! It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Old Friends: Our old friends spent the week learning how to use a formula as a prediction tool. We are all set for our trip to Yellowstone National Park because we will be able make a pretty accurate prediction about when Old Faithful will erupt! We also practiced interpreting a variety of tables and graphs. Lastly, we ended our week learning about the circumference of a circle and comparing ratios and the use of the irrational number pi (3.14…).
New Friends: Friday new friends tested on chapter 9. We will begin working on chapter 10 next week. In this unit, your child will take another look at geometry with an emphasis on symmetry. The class will also explore the properties of reflections. Encourage your child to use these important translation words into their vocabulary which includes: rotated, translated, and transformed.
